Field Cost Accountant - Travel Required

POSITION SUMMARY:
KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking a Field Cost Accountant for current and upcoming environmental remediation and construction projects.
Frequent overnight and out-of-state travel is required for projects throughout TN, KY, NC, SC, VA, WV, TX, and other locations based on project needs. Project locations, schedules, durations, and start dates will vary.
The Field Cost Accountant provides field-based project cost accounting, procurement, and administrative support to help ensure project costs, contractual documentation, and reporting requirements are accurate, complete, and timely.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
  • Track and reconcile project costs, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other project-related expenses.
  • Prepare and reconcile contractor daily cost reports, including EPA Form 1900-55 and Removal Cost Management System (RCMS) reporting for EPA projects and daily cost reports for private projects, as applicable.
  • Maintain project timekeeping, invoices, receipts, mileage, per diem, and other supporting cost documentation.
  • Prepare and update project burn schedules and support budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting activities.
  • Procure project materials, equipment, and subcontracted services; obtain quotes and support cost comparisons and vendor selection.
  • Initiate and maintain purchase orders, subcontract or service agreements, and change orders as assigned.
  • Process vendor invoices and coordinate project supplies and other site support needs as assigned.
  • Maintain organized project files and upload required records to SharePoint and other designated company or client systems.
  • Provide administrative and operational support to Project Managers and field personnel and communicate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and corporate support staff regarding project cost, procurement, and documentation matters.
  • Ensure required project documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Follow applicable safety and incident reporting procedures and promptly report concerns to appropriate project or corporate management.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of administrative, accounting, project support, or related experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel.
  • Experience supporting ERRS projects required.
  • Experience supporting environmental remediation, construction, government, or other field-based projects required.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to maintain accurate project and financial records.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines and complete assigned responsibilities independently in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work professionally with clients, managers, field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and corporate support staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous accounting or project accounting experience, including project cost tracking, procurement, invoicing, expense tracking, accounts payable support, or project financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with EPA Form 1900-55, RCMS, Dynamics, SharePoint, or similar project/accounting systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Primarily works from project sites, jobsite office trailers, and other field-based locations.
  • May work near moving mechanical equipment and in active construction or environmental remediation environments with exposure to heat, cold, rain, humidity, dust, mud, asphalt, noise, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer may be required.
  • Must be able to safely enter and move through active project areas and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Frequent overnight and out-of-state travel is required.
  • Projects may be located throughout TN, KY, NC, SC, VA, WV, TX, and other locations based on project needs.
  • Travel may be up to 100% depending on project assignment.
  • Must be willing to work from project sites and jobsite office trailers for the duration of assigned projects.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required by project needs.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record meeting KEMRON vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Must understand and comply with KEMRON corporate and project-specific Health and Safety Plans, standard operating procedures, and other applicable project requirements.
