What you will enjoy doing*
- You will diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain tractors, trailers, electrical systems, PTO systems, hydraulic pumping systems, and self-contained pony motor pumping systems
- Use manufacturer diagnostic software, OEM manuals, websites, and diagnostic/calibration equipment to perform maintenance, repairs, and calibrations
- Perform, document, and track preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), calibration activities, warranty repairs, and work orders in the maintenance management system
- Further, you will maintain fleet appearance through body repair, fabrication, and refurbishment activities
- Maintain inventory of parts, tires, fuel, oil, and lubricants
- Perform roadside service calls and coordinate with vendors to minimize equipment downtime and ensure timely repairs
- And you will maintain compliance with trucking bulletins, alerts, safety standards, and environmental requirements
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
What makes you great
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Three (3+) years of diesel mechanic experience, including experience with Freightliner and Volvo tractors, Detroit Diesel engines, and Eaton manual/automatic transmissions
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with and understanding of 49 CFR *396 and applicable state and local regulations
- Air Brake Inspector Certification and EPA 609 Air Conditioning Certification required
- You have knowledge of 12V electrical systems, electrical diagnostics, and cryogenic systems, including pumps, valves, and piping
- Valid driver's license required; ability to obtain a CDL Class A and Hazmat endorsement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- You have proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, email, and electronic maintenance management systems
- Fabrication and welding experience
- ASE Diesel Mechanic Certification preferred
- Ability to travel up to 10%, work overtime, and participate in on-call rotations as needed
