GENERAL SUMMARY
The Industrial Painter / Sandblaster is responsible for preparing, blasting, coating, and finishing manufactured products in accordance with customer specifications, quality standards, and production schedules. This position performs all aspects of surface preparation, including abrasive blasting, cleaning, masking, powder coating, and liquid paint application. The role ensures finished products meet appearance, durability, and quality requirements while supporting safe and efficient manufacturing operations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
  • Prepare products for finishing operations through cleaning, degreasing, abrasive blasting, masking, and other surface preparation methods.
  • Operate manual and automated sandblasting equipment to achieve required surface preparation standards prior to coating application.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain paint booths, blasting equipment, powder coating systems, spray guns, pumps, pressure pots, and curing ovens.
  • Mix and prepare paints, primers, epoxies, powder coatings, and other finishing materials according to specifications and work instructions.
  • Apply liquid paint, powder coat, and other protective coatings to manufactured products in accordance with customer, engineering, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor curing and finishing processes to ensure proper coating appearance, thickness, adhesion, and durability.
  • Inspect completed work to verify compliance with quality standards and identify nonconforming products for corrective action.
  • De-mask, label, identify, and properly handle finished products to maintain product integrity and traceability.
  • Safely move materials and products throughout the finishing process using hoists, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment as required.
  • Maintain work areas, equipment, and inventory locations in clean, organized, and safe condition.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of manufacturing operations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of industrial painting, powder coating, sandblasting, or related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience operating industrial blasting equipment required.
  • Experience with powder coating and liquid paint application required.
  • Forklift certification or experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Valve manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong knowledge of industrial painting, powder coating, blasting, and surface preparation techniques.
  • Understanding of coating thickness, curing processes, and finish quality requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, job packets, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Consistent attendance and strong work ethic.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform repetitive arm and hand movements associated with blasting and painting operations.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear respirators and required personal protective equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in environments with paint fumes, blasting media, dust, and elevated noise levels.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal manufacturing and office environment. When working occasionally in some shop areas, personal protection equipment (PPE) will be recommended and/or required (safety shoes, safety glasses w/side shields, hearing protection, face shield, gloves, apron, and boots). Must have the ability to support extended business hours to meet customer business needs.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
DeZURIK offers a competitive hourly rate in the $20.18 to $24.22 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with annual bonus opportunities tied to performance.
