Yoh is hiring a direct-hire Reliability Engineer for an expanding Research and Development organization in Marietta, Ohio. This engineer will own reliability planning for laboratory cold-storage products and other complex temperature-controlled electromechanical equipment. The role spans design-risk analysis, verification strategy, accelerated and environmental testing, failure investigation, corrective design verification, and product approval. Work arrangement: Fully onsite Monday through Friday in Marietta, Ohio Relocation: Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates Schedule: Primarily standard business hours, with occasional flexibility for collaboration with international engineering teams Key Responsibilities Develop, document, and execute product reliability plans aligned with design requirements, program milestones, and applicable product standards. Lead Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) activities and translate identified risks into appropriate verification methods, stress conditions, test coverage, and acceptance criteria. Partner with R&D engineers and laboratory technicians to develop and execute mechanical, electrical, thermal, environmental, and accelerated-life testing. Develop test methods that reproduce expected operating conditions, foreseeable misuse, transportation stresses, and relevant environmental exposures. Analyze test and field-performance data to identify failure trends, reliability risks, and opportunities for product improvement. Lead structured failure investigations, determine root causes, recommend corrective design actions, and verify their effectiveness through controlled retesting. Support product approval and certification activities involving applicable UL, CSA, ETL, IEC, NSF, Energy Star, DIN, or similar requirements. Coordinate testing and technical documentation with internal laboratories, external test facilities, and product-certification organizations. Create and maintain standardized reliability procedures, design guidance, test protocols, and technical reports. Communicate reliability findings and recommendations to engineering, quality, product management, and program stakeholders. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Five or more years of experience in product reliability, product validation, verification testing, product approval, or a closely related engineering function. Experience supporting the design and development of complex mechanical or electromechanical products. Demonstrated experience leading or materially contributing to DFMEAs and converting identified failure risks into verification or reliability test coverage. Hands-on experience developing test methods, protocols, stress profiles, and measurable acceptance criteria. Experience with accelerated-life, durability, environmental, or combined-stress testing. Demonstrated experience investigating failures, identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and verifying the resulting product improvement. Experience supporting product approval or certification testing through an NRTL, certification agency, or applicable standards organization. Ability to work effectively across mechanical, electrical, controls, quality, and laboratory engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications Experience with refrigeration, HVAC/R, laboratory freezers, commercial appliances, thermal-management systems, or other temperature-controlled products. Knowledge of compressors, refrigerants, sealed systems, sensors, controls, electrical components, or related refrigeration subsystems. Experience with UL, CSA, ETL, Intertek, TUV, IEC, NSF, Energy Star, DIN, or comparable testing and approval requirements. Experience with data-acquisition systems, test automation, statistical analysis, or reliability-analysis tools. Familiarity with Lean, Practical Process Improvement (PPI), or similar continuous-improvement methods. Reliability engineering certification or advanced reliability coursework. Compensation The anticipated base salary target for this position is $80,000-$85,000. Candidates with particularly strong and directly relevant experience may be considered above the target range.
