Overview
The Luau Greeter is responsible for creating a memorable first impression to our luau guests. This position facilitates a great experience by promptly greeting and seating guests, while providing an orientation to the luau grounds and the evening's events.
Responsibilities
These duties include but are not limited to the following: Must be available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the Luau operations including evenings, weekends and holidays. This is a 4 hour evening shift.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Previous guest experience required.
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk frequently for extend periods of time.
- Frequent repetitive hand, wrist, and body motions.
- Occasionally Light to Medium work - Lifting up to 20 to 50 pounds of equipment occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to work in Hot/Cold temperatures.
Essential Job Requirements:
- Must be available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the Luau operations including evenings, weekends and holidays. This is a 4 hour evening shift.
- Previous host experience, preferably in relation to large-scale events.
- Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
- Ability to read, write, and speak in the English language.
- Neat and professional appearance, a genuine Spirit of Aloha and desire to work with the public.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and engage in considerable physical activity on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to work in conjunction with the Luau Stage Manager, F&B Luau Managers, and Luau staff.
- Must be able to interact with fellow co-workers, manager/supervisors, guests and others with respect and honesty.
- Must be able to work cohesively with fellow co-workers and managers/supervisors as part of a team.
- Must attend all scheduled training, and hotel required meetings.
- Must have a positive attitude.
- Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of management, employees, guest and others in an attentive friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

- Must perform other duties as direct/assigned by managers/supervisors.

- Must show up to work on time, at the start of your scheduled shift ready to work, fully dressed in accordance to the Highgate Hotel standards.

- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the Luau operations.

For Employees Based in Washington:
- 8 paid holidays per year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
- Paid Sick & Safe Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, with up to 72 hours of unused time carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
For Employees Based in Colorado:
- 8 paid holidays per year; employees working in the City of Denver receive 64 hours of designated holiday time per calendar year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service
- 6 days or 48 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year, accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
For Employees Based in California:
- 8 paid holidays per year
- Up to 20 days of paid vacation per year, based on classification and length of service, capped at 1.5x annual accrual rate; non-supervisory employees working in the City of Los Angeles accrue up to 22 days of Compensated Time Off, based on length of service capped at 192 hours of combined PST and CTO.
- Paid Sick Time accrues at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, unused time is carried over from one anniversary year to the next up to a maximum of 80 hours; employees working in the City of Los Angeles are provided 40 hours of Paid Sick Time annually on their anniversary, unused time is not carried over from one anniversary year to the next.
