What You'll Do
We are looking for three different trades of technicians. Install Technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and support of low-voltage technology systems, including structured cabling, audiovisual solutions, access control systems, video surveillance systems, and related infrastructure.
Structured Cabling
- Install, terminate, label, and test network cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, shielded cable, fiber optic, coaxial, riser, and multi-pair cabling.
- Install patch panels, punch-down blocks, telecommunications closets, racks, cabinets, and pathway systems.
- Perform cable certification testing and documentation.
- Interpret CAD drawings and construction documents.
- Adhere to BICSI, EIA, and TIA industry standards.
Audio Visual Systems
- Install and test AV and network cabling for audiovisual systems.
- Install displays, TVs, projectors, projection screens, speakers, amplifiers, microphones, conferencing equipment, and related AV technologies.
- Assemble and install mounting hardware and support structures.
- Perform basic configuration and testing of AV devices.
- Interpret AV design drawings and adhere to AVIXA standards.
Security Systems
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair IP-based access control, CCTV, video management systems (VMS), intrusion detection systems, intercoms, and related equipment.
- Install cameras, card readers, electric strikes, mag locks, door contacts, REX devices, power supplies, door controllers, UPS systems, and associated hardware.
- Add and configure cameras, readers, users, and controllers within supported systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and system inspections.
- Conduct commissioning, testing, and turnover activities.
- Assist with permit inspections and site reporting requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily project activities with project managers, supervisors, and team members.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in the field.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, reports, and testing records.
- Communicate effectively with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Complete daily safety requirements, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA) documentation.
- Follow company safety policies and customer-specific safety programs.
- Assist with in-house system assembly, testing, and staging activities.
- Maintain a professional appearance and positive customer experience.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in commercial low-voltage installations, structured cabling, AV systems, security systems, or related technologies.
- Experience installing and terminating network cabling including Cat5e, Cat6, fiber, and coaxial cable.
- Basic understanding of IP networking and low-voltage systems.
- Experience reading blueprints, CAD drawings, and construction documents.
- Ability to use testing and troubleshooting equipment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Sound judgment and ability to work independently.
- Valid Driver's License; Clean driving record; Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass background checks and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom systems.
- Experience with audiovisual installations and conference room technologies.
- Experience with telecommunications closet buildouts and rack installations.
- Texas DPS Security Installer License or ability to obtain.
- Trade school training or associate degree in electronics or a related field.
- Manufacturer certifications in access control, surveillance, or AV technologies.
- BICSI, AVIXA CTS, OSHA 10, or OSHA 30 certifications.
- Experience with Genetec, Axis, Bosch, HID, Sony, or similar platforms.
Physical Demands:
Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stand, stoop, kneel, drive and reach. Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Work on job sites require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc.
