This position is responsible for supervising all aspects of operation and maintenance of the Athletic Department facilities. This position will assist with special events and be responsible for and coordinate outside maintenance contractors supporting the University of Colorado Intercollegiate Athletic Department by providing total customer service for Intercollegiate Athletic Department staff, student-athletes, the University community, and the general public This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program. This shall include adhering to the principles of the Athletic Department's Mission Statement, Core Values, Policies and Procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big 12 Conference and the NCAA. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Provide Supervision over Structural Trades personnel Supervise a team of 2 more trades personnel Lead, plan, and schedule daily operations. Material management; ordering building needs, and basic knowledge of specific items needed to complete work orders. Run, plan, and schedule work order system (FIIX). Work with staff to setup timelines, and order/use back stock to complete projects. Budget conscious and ability to understand overall yearly planning. Outside Contractors: Supervise and coordinate outside contractors and University maintenance personnel in performance of duties, ensuring quality workmanship and completion on schedule. A broad-based knowledge of construction techniques and methods is required to effectively accomplish this task. When assessing potential work, draw on experience, as well as consider life cycle and overall costs, before recommending which direction to take with assignment. Manages All Aspect of Operation and Maintenance of Multiple or Large Physical Facilities: Repair to building systems. Perform repairs to various building system by assessing the problem, determining the correct course of action and compiling the repair or requesting additional assistance, if required. At times the position may need to drive a University vehicle. After interviewing a customer requesting work, diagnose the problem, develop a course of action, determine an appreciate schedule, complete the repair. Recommendations that include repairs or replacements could have significant budget impacts. This position will need to prioritize the renovation project and recommend a course of action to supervisors regarding major project and renovations. Repair, Reassemble and Install Equipment, Machinery, Plumbing, Carpentry: Maintain various equipment and machinery. Maintain equipment by designing and implementing the proper preventative schedule for equipment, machinery and tools. this includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of grounds equipment, such as push mowers, tractors and line stripers and/or construction trade tools. Renovating Building Systems: Renovate building components and systems by assessing and interpreting the user's needs, figuring out appropriate course of action and completing the project. Specific examples of decision making would include figuring out viability of the project, determining the best methods, based on established carpentry technique, matching finishes to existing finishes, and completing the alteration on schedule. Special Events: Assist in coordination of special events by assessing the needs of a use and setting up, as well as operating, the events accordingly. An example would include the construction of a temporary entry gating system which allows for the queuing of fans and ticket taking at a football game but the needs of special events vary greatly in the scope and often require last minute alterations to allow an event to work. In performing this task, staff draws on their experience, as well as the experience of others, to formulate an effective solution to the problem of creating a functional and efficient gate entry system. Problems which could be encountered include availability of the necessary components, which could lead to unplanned design changes. What You Should Know 7:00-3:30 pm, typically Monday - Friday; additional work on holidays, weekends and evenings as needed to support events, programs and athletic competitions. What We Require Six years of progressively responsible experience in the structural trades appropriate to the work assignment (including carpentry, electrical, painting, locksmithing). Supervision of a team, and/or working as a project manager or managing contractors. Substitution: A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years. A valid U.S. Driver's License. What You Will Need Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, and locksmithing trades. Knowledge of a variety of tools and methods. Ability to assess and determine if the job can be completed in house or with an outside contractor. Skilled at multi-tasking and assessing which jobs take priority. What We Would Like You to Have Three years supervisory experience managing small projects supervising and directing people to complete the project.
