| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The
UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Oral and Craniofacial Health Sciences is the home of the faculty heavily involved in research and/or teaching in the Foundational and Biomedical Sciences. |
| Position Summary |
The Executive Assistant provides high-level administrative and programmatic support to the Adams School of Dentistry (
ASOD) Office of Research Administration, with primary responsibility for supporting the Associate Dean for Research (
ADR) and the Office's efforts to advance the School's research mission. The position manages communications, coordinates scheduling and administrative activities for the
ADR, supports research-related programs, meetings, and events, and serves as a liaison with other School and University offices, including Information Technology, Support Services, and Human Resources.
The position also provides administrative support to the Department of Biomedical Sciences, which includes many of the School's research-intensive faculty and plays a significant role in the predoctoral curriculum. Responsibilities include coordinating departmental administrative activities, communications, meetings, and other operational needs in support of faculty, leadership, and departmental programs.
This position operates in a dynamic academic and research environment and requires the ability to independently manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, anticipate and resolve administrative needs, and coordinate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and internal and external partners. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to work independently while effectively managing competing priorities. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate's degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Management Preferences |
-Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
-Experience using web-based survey, scheduling, and collaboration tools, such as Qualtrics or similar applications.
-Experience using University administrative and financial systems, such as InfoPorte, Concur, or comparable systems.
-Demonstrated experience coordinating complex calendars, meetings, programs, and events in a professional, academic, or research environment.
-Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities independently, exercise sound judgment and discretion, and communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. |
