About the Job

Job Duties:

  • Develop high quality, brand-appropriate content (email copy, web copy, stories, blogs, podcast or video scripts, etc.) on schedule. As needed, interview subjects, research background information, gather data or information and write content. Vet writing and make edits as needed.
  • Source and gather or create visual assets (photos, video).
  • Working collaboratively with a social media manager, develop social media strategies to implement engaging content across many channels - such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Working collaboratively with UMN public relations professionals, develop strategies to pitch content to the media. Develop pitch materials as needed.
  • Build web pages using CCAPS Drupal templates. Make updates to launched sites over time as needed.
  • Manage projects via Asana project management system.

This is a temp casual position with up to 14 hours of work per week. Work need will vary across the year. Some time periods may not require any hours.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Journalism, Marketing, Art or related field or non-communication related degree with additional two years of professional communication experience.
  • At least two years of experience creating content and web pages.
  • A proven track record of writing clear, concise, and creative copy.
  • Experience developing social media or public relations strategies and deploying them with positive results.
  • Demonstrated strong grasp of English usage and grammar.
  • Experience making digital content accessible.
  • Experience using AI-empowered workflows.
  • Interpersonal skills including patience, tact, and the ability to work with a variety of people at all levels to lead communications efforts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree
  • Basic HTML skills
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to handle a high volume of work, multiple projects being worked on simultaneously, and tight deadlines.
About the Department

The Marketing and Enrollment Management Department in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies develops engaging communications for our community of prospects, learners, alumni, staff/faculty, advisory boards, and workforce partners.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $35-50/hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
