Job Category: Full Time - Direct Hire Opportunity Location: San Diego, CA Pay Range: $90,000 - $95,000 + Full Benefits Industry: Food Manufacturing/Production BBSI is partnering with an established San Diego manufacturing company seeking an experienced, hands on HR Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day HR function and help create greater structure across the organization. This is an opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys being close to the operation. You will work directly with leadership while also being visible and accessible to employees on the production floor. The ideal candidate knows how to navigate challenging employee situations, understands California employment law, and has experience creating policies, procedures, and SOPs that actually work in a manufacturing environment. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leadership
- Manage employee relations matters, workplace concerns, investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution
- Provide guidance to management regarding California employment law, HR compliance, and best practices
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and SOPs
- Identify gaps within current HR processes and create greater structure, consistency, and accountability
- Coach managers and supervisors through employee performance and personnel issues
- Maintain accurate employee documentation and HR records
- Support onboarding, terminations, leaves, employee requests, and other employee lifecycle activities
- Assist with payroll processes and timekeeping as needed
- Conduct and facilitate employee meetings and HR communications
- Partner closely with operations and production leadership
- Maintain a regular presence on the manufacturing floor and build strong relationships with employees
- Support workplace safety, compliance, and company culture initiatives
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 5+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with experience operating at an HR Manager or senior HR level strongly preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Manufacturing or warehouse HR experience required
- Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance
- Demonstrated strength in employee relations and workplace investigations
- Experience developing and implementing SOPs, policies, and HR processes
- Experience supporting an hourly production workforce
- Strong coaching, communication, and conflict resolution skills
- Comfortable working both in an office environment and directly with employees on the production floor
- Strong organizational skills and attention to documentation
- Working knowledge of payroll and timekeeping processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel
