Seeking an Epic Instructional Designer to independently own Epic Grand Central and ClinDoc application training.
This role supports inpatient clinical and operational workflows across hospitals and care settings, with a strong emphasis on practical, workflow-based training that improves efficiency, quality, patient safety, and user experience. Key areas of focus include patient movement, admissions, transfers, discharges, bed management, clinical documentation, interdisciplinary communication, and other workflows that support the delivery of patient care.
Ideal candidates bring a mix of Epic training and instructional design experience, with preference for those who have supported inpatient clinical, operational, ancillary, or patient access workflows. Experience with patient flow, care coordination, clinical documentation, hospital operations, and multidisciplinary care team workflows is a plus.
Strongly preferred candidates will already be Epic certified or credentialed in Grand Central and/or ClinDoc. Candidates with solid Epic training and instructional design experience who can successfully certify are also a strong fit.
The Instructional Designer Intermediate is responsible for the successful development and system-wide delivery of training for software managed through the Information & Technology Services (ITS) department. Working under moderate supervision, this position designs training curricula, develops educational content, configures software training environments, coordinates and delivers training, and resolves service tickets and requests. This position partners with clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders to improve user performance and support safe, effective patient care.

Essential Job Function:

  • Develops and implements / delivers the software training program for one's respective Epic application(s) and/or other ITS software; creates and edits the curriculum and training/support materials for all roles as well as collaborates with leaders and analysts to determine the best approaches for training program development and user training.
  • Provides training and remediation for all system users via classroom, independent, at-the-elbow, refresher, new hire, thrive, online, and/or blended learning.
  • Coordinates training-related logistics and communications, responds to requests for training, Reviews / routes / resolves pertinent service tickets, supports help line calls, and rounds among stakeholders.
  • Creates, builds, configures, tests, and maintains the software training environments, and works in conjunction with application teams and technical teams to ensure consistency between production and training environments.
  • Participates in recruiting, selecting, coordinating, educating, credentialing, and ongoing deployment of Credentialed Trainers (CT's) to assist with super user and end user training.
  • Ensures that CT's are trained and equipped to successfully serve specific applications and user areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in relevant field.

Experience:

  • Required: 2 years.

Licensure/Certification/Listing:

  • Required: Clinical employees must maintain licensure appropriate to clinical education and training, without lapse. For Cone HealthLink (CHL) / Epic applications, must satisfactorily complete required Epic certification testing within the timeframe specified in the Epic Certification commitment policy.
