Description

The Warehouse Receiving Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating all receiving activities to ensure incoming products are received accurately, organized efficiently and made available to the appropriate teams in a timely manner. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, leadership, communication and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who creates structure, maintains an orderly warehouse, anticipates workflow challenges, and keeps the receiving team focused on accuracy, productivity and service.


Receiving & Organization

  • Manage the daily receiving schedule and coordinate the unloading, verification, staging and storage of incoming product.
  • Maintain an organized, clean and efficient receiving and staging area.
  • Establish clear processes for product identification, labeling, staging and movement throughout the warehouse.
  • Verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, packing lists and other receiving documentation.
  • Identify and resolve shortages, damages, incorrect shipments and other receiving discrepancies.
  • Ensure products are properly accounted for and moved to their designated locations in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate receiving priorities based on installation schedules, customer requirements, warehouse capacity and operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate receiving records and system information.


Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide daily directions and leadership to warehouse receiving personnel.
  • Establish clear expectations for productivity, accuracy, organization, safety and accountability.
  • Assign work based on daily priorities and adjust assignments as conditions change.
  • Train and develop team members on receiving procedures, product handling, warehouse organization and safety practices.
  • Promote teamwork and effective communication between Receiving, Warehouse, Operations, Project Management and other departments.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, dependability, organization and a willingness to assist the team when needed.


Planning & Multitasking

  • Manage multiple incoming shipments, priorities, requests and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Anticipate potential scheduling, space, staffing or product issues before they disrupt operations.
  • Quickly reprioritize work when schedules or business needs change.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure critical products are identified and available when needed.
  • Maintain attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.


Safety & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure receiving activities follow company safety procedures and established warehouse practices.
  • Maintain clear aisles, staging areas, workspaces and emergency access points.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse layout, receiving processes, product flow and overall efficiency.
  • Help develop and maintain standardized receiving procedures.
  • Encourage employees to identify problems and recommend practical improvements.
  • Support a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Qualifications

  • Previous warehouse, receiving, logistics, distribution or operations experience required.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, management, vendors, drivers and other departments.
  • Comfortable using warehouse management, inventory, receiving and related computer systems including RFID scanners
  • Ability to identify problems, make sound decisions and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively in a physically active warehouse environment.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular activity in a warehouse environment, including standing, walking, bending, reaching and handling materials. The employee must be able to safely perform the physical requirements associated with warehouse receiving operations and use appropriate material-handling equipment in accordance with company safety requirements. You will be expected to lift up to 50 lbs. individually for routine material handling.
