Shape the Future of Mining with Komatsu Mining Technology Solutions: At Komatsu Mining Technology Solutions, we're not just talking about progress and innovation - we're making it happen. Our cutting-edge Modular brand solutions are powering mines worldwide, driving efficiency and sustainability in ways thatseemed impossible just years ago.

The Company

Modular Mining Systems is the global leader in mine management technology and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Komatsu Ltd. Our innovative technology powers mine operations in every corner of the globe. The products we cultivate, the solutions we engineer, and the service we deliver set us apart in the Mining Technology industry. We are more than a company, we're a community of passionate, creative professionals striving toward a shared vision: to revolutionize the way the mining industry operates. With a presence stretching from Johannesburg to Vancouver, Sydney to Lima, you are part of a global brand that supports creativity, fosters innovation, and encourages you to think big, share ideas and be yourself.

Job Purpose

The AHS Product Engineer II provides advanced technical support, troubleshooting, testing, deployment, and continuous improvement support for Komatsu's FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System (AHS).

Working as part of the Global Support organization, this role helps regional support teams and mine-site customers diagnose and resolve complex system issues, deploy and validate AHS software, and maintain the technical documentation and processes required to operate and support autonomous mining systems safely and reliably.

The Product Engineer II operates with greater independence than an entry-level Product Engineer and is expected to take ownership of technical investigations, coordinate troubleshooting activities, contribute to testing and quality assurance, and share knowledge with less experienced team members.

This position combines office-based technical work with periodic travel to customer mine sites and participation in an after-hours support rotation. The successful candidate will be comfortable working across software, operating systems, networking, databases, and mine-site technology while collaborating with geographically distributed technical teams.

The Team

Komatsu Mining Technology Solutions' AHS Global Support team provides technical expertise to regional support organizations and customer operations using the FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System.

The team works across multiple regions and time zones to investigate system issues, support software releases and deployments, improve troubleshooting practices, and help maintain the availability, safety, and performance of autonomous mining systems.

As an AHS Product Engineer II, you will work closely with Product Engineers, regional technical support teams, engineering and development teams, quality assurance personnel, deployment teams, and mine-site stakeholders.

The environment is highly collaborative and technically complex. Issues may involve multiple interconnected systems, requiring engineers to analyze logs and system data, isolate faults, coordinate resources, test potential solutions, document findings, and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Travel Requirements

Up to 25%.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Each day will present new technical challenges and opportunities to expand your knowledge of autonomous mining systems. As an AHS Product Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide advanced technical support for the FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System (AHS), investigating and resolving incidents and service requests while meeting established service-level expectations.
  • Troubleshoot complex software, system, configuration, networking, database, and integration issues by analyzing system logs, diagnostic data, configurations, and other available technical information.
  • Take ownership of technical issues through resolution or appropriate escalation, coordinating with regional support, engineering, development, quality assurance, and other technical teams as required.
  • Support and lead assigned FrontRunner AHS software deployments and upgrades, following approved installation documentation, standards, procedures, checklists, and quality-assurance practices.
  • Perform system checkout, configuration verification, functional testing, and post-deployment validation to confirm that installations, upgrades, and fixes operate as intended.
  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases for AHS software, configurations, fixes, and deployment activities; document results and communicate identified issues to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Create, review, and maintain technical documentation, including release notes, installation instructions, troubleshooting procedures, checkout procedures, deployment checklists, and knowledge-base content.
  • Identify recurring technical issues, support trends, and opportunities to improve product supportability, troubleshooting processes, deployment practices, documentation, and overall service quality.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to Product Engineer I employees and other support personnel, promoting consistent troubleshooting and support practices across the team.
  • Communicate technical findings, incident status, risks, deployment progress, and recommended actions clearly to regional teams, customers, engineering groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in scheduled after-hours and emergency support for AHS sites and regional teams, including support of critical issues outside normal business hours in accordance with established support processes.
  • Travel to customer mine sites and regional locations, including international and potentially extended assignments, to support deployments, upgrades, troubleshooting, and other technical activities while complying with Komatsu and customer safety requirements.
