Job Description
Description of Job Duty:
The overall purpose of this job is to provide strategic and technical expertise for the University's enterprise reporting, analytics, and data architecture environment. The Senior Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for designing, governing, and evolving the University's business intelligence ecosystem to ensure institutional data is accurate, secure, accessible, and actionable for decision-making. This position serves as the University's lead architect for enterprise analytics solutions, supporting applications including but not limited to Banner, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Ellucian Insights, Power BI, and other institutional reporting platforms while promoting data governance, reporting standards, and analytics modernization initiatives across the campus community.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
Enterprise Data Architecture
- Design, maintain, and evolve the University's enterprise analytics architecture supporting Banner, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Ellucian Insights, Power BI, and other institutional systems.
- Develop and maintain enterprise data models, semantic layers, data lakes, reporting frameworks, and integration strategies that support institutional reporting and analytics.
- Define and maintain enterprise data standards, metadata management practices, business definitions, and governance processes to ensure consistency and integrity across reporting environments.
- Collaborate with database administrators, application administrators, integration developers, and functional stakeholders to optimize enterprise data structures and reporting solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for enterprise data models, reporting definitions, metadata, business rules, data lineage, and analytics standards, including templates and other reusable knowledge assets.
- Evaluate and recommend architectural approaches and emerging technologies that support the University's long-term analytics and reporting strategy.
Enterprise Reporting
- Lead enterprise reporting, dashboard, and business intelligence initiatives that support institutional planning, operational effectiveness, and data-informed decision-making.
- Partner with campus stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate reporting and analytics needs into scalable solutions.
- Design, develop, and maintain enterprise dashboards, scorecards, reports, data
- visualizations, and self-service analytics solutions.
- Develop executive-level reporting that supports strategic planning, budgeting, enrollment management, workforce planning, student success, compliance, and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
- Establish reporting standards, visualization best practices, and data presentation guidelines to ensure consistency and usability across reporting environments.
- Identify opportunities to improve organizational decision-making through advanced analytics, automation, and enhanced access to trusted institutional data.
- Promote self-service reporting capabilities while ensuring alignment with institutional governance, security, and data quality standards.
- Provide technical support, consultation, training, and guidance to business users in the effective use of reporting and analytics tools.
Data Governance & Quality
- Establish and maintain enterprise data governance, data quality, metadata management, privacy, and reporting standards across institutional reporting and analytics platforms.
- Design and maintain enterprise reporting security architecture, including role-based access controls, row-level security, data classification standards, and protection of sensitive student, employee, and financial information.
- Develop and maintain processes for validating data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability across reporting environments.
- Monitor institutional data quality, coordinate issue resolution across functional and technical teams, and promote stewardship of enterprise data assets.
- Establish and maintain business definitions, reporting standards, governance documentation, and procedures that support trusted institutional reporting and decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with FERPA, University policies, and applicable regulatory requirements related to data access, security, and privacy.
Platform Administration & Development
- Administer and provide technical leadership for enterprise analytics platforms and reporting environments, including Ellucian Insights, Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI), Power BI, Oracle Analytics solutions, and related reporting technologies.
- Configure and maintain analytics platform components, including semantic models, subject areas, security roles, user access, schemas, and reporting environments.
- Manage platform upgrades, patches, quarterly releases, data refresh schedules, warehouse resets, validation processes, and performance optimization activities.
- Configure, monitor, and support integrations, data pipelines, third-party connectivity, and reporting data architectures to ensure reliable and timely access to institutional data.
- Promote and migrate analytics content, reports, dashboards, and data assets between development, test, and production environments.
- Create and support custom analytical views, extensions, and reporting solutions using SQL-based tools, data warehouses, and platform-specific development capabilities.
- Evaluate emerging analytics technologies, recommend platform improvements, and support initiatives that advance the University's analytics and reporting capabilities.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and consultation related to analytics platforms, reporting environments, and business intelligence tools.

Work Hours:
Typical hours are Monday-Friday, 8: 00 a.m. - 4: 30 p.m. Additional hours if/when needed.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related field. Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise reporting, analytics, business intelligence, data architecture, data warehousing, or related disciplines is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Statistics, Higher Education Administration, or a related discipline.
Experience supporting higher education ERP systems, institutional reporting, analytics platforms, and enterprise data governance initiatives. Experience with Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) and cloud-based analytics warehouse technologies. Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise analytics, business intelligence, data architecture, reporting, or data governance is preferred.
