What we do

We are a hepatology lab in the Abramson Building at CHOP focused on dysregulated immune responses that result in liver failure in children. As part of understanding these diseases in the liver we collect patient samples during procedures and work with mouse models to find treatments for these disorders.Dr. Diamond is an attending hepatologist and investigator with a research interest in how inflammatory molecules called cytokines cause liver injury and dysfunction. His lab works closely with a larger group at CHOP focused on immune dysregulation disorders in various disciplines including neonatology, rheumatology and gastroenterology.

Techniques we use

We work primarily with mice models of human diseases such as Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis, Macrophage Activation Syndrome and acute immune mediated hepatitis. We also perform experiments on patient samples to correlate what we study in mice. Some of the techniques we use include flow cytometry, cell sorting, qPCR, microscopy, single cell next generation sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and ELISA assays amongst others. This position will receive extensive training in these techniques during your time in our lab.
