DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on maintaining an immaculate, organized, and secure environment through detailed cleaning routines and support tasks, including moving and lifting heavy furniture. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Deep Cleaning: Perform deep cleaning in resident rooms, offices, common areas, medical spaces, and public locations throughout the facility
  • General Cleaning: Complete daily cleaning tasks such as mopping, dusting, polishing, scrubbing, sweeping, and buffing a wide range of surfaces and furnishings
  • Sanitation Duties: Clean and sanitize all restrooms and maintain hygienic conditions in high-traffic areas
  • Waste Management: Empty waste containers, handle recycling materials, and dispose of infectious waste in proper storage areas
  • Supply Tasks: Restock soap, paper products, cleaning chemicals, and other supplies to keep areas prepared and functional
  • Room Preparation: Clean, organize, and rearrange resident rooms before new occupants arrive

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment (7.5 hours per day; 37.5 hours per week)
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM (1st shift), with a 30-minute lunch. In this role, you will work every other weekend and alternating holidays.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Additional Requirement:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Willing and able to work in Allegheny County, PA
  • Able to work 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM
  • Experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, buffing, etc.)
  • Experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting
  • Experience cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
