POSITION SUMMARY:
The Site Technology & Operations engineer acts as the primary technology representative for the site/campus and serves as the bridge between local business leadership and the broader IT organization. This role represents technology in site-level decisions and is accountable for ensuring that campus technology services are available, stable, secure, compliant, and aligned with corporate standards.
The role is mainly focused on Manufacturing and labs but ultimately has a broad scope also across Quality, Engineering, Facilities, Workplace Services, Infrastructure, Applications, and Digital initiatives. It is responsible for collecting and structuring site technology demand, coordinating with Business Relationship Managers and central IT teams, applying enterprise standards locally in partnership with the relevant Centers of Excellence, and ensuring clear ownership and follow-up for operational and project-related topics.
This role is intended to perform hands-on infrastructure administration, application installation, and routine operational execution. The Site Technology & Operations Engineer owns local technology orchestration, business alignment, readiness, communication, and acceptance of outcomes.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESSite Technology Leadership, Business Partnership, and Strategic Alignment
*Act as the primary technology contact for the site/campus for internal and external stakeholders.
*Serve as an active member of the Campus / Site Leadership Team, representing local IT and technology perspectives in site-level decisions.
*Co-design the site/plant digital and technology roadmap with local leadership to maximize productivity and mitigate operational risks.
*Build effective and trusted relationships with Manufacturing, Laboratories, Quality, Engineering, Facilities, Supply Chain, corporate functions, and IT partners.
*Develop strong understanding of site processes, operational constraints, and technology dependencies to better represent site needs to the broader IT organization.
Demand Management and Portfolio Alignment:
*Collect, qualify, and structure technology demand originating from local leadership, Engineering, Automation, Laboratories, Facilities, Industrial PMO, IT Applications, and other site stakeholders.
*Translate site business needs into clear technology requirements, expected outcomes, and implementation dependencies.
*Apply enterprise technology and cybersecurity standards locally, in coordination with the appropriate Core Technology CoEs, Security Office, OT CoE, BRMs, and VMO.
*Coordinate with Business Relationship Managers to ensure site demand is considered in budgeting, planning, and prioritization processes.
*Ensure the right IT owner is engaged for each topic, whether central, local, MSP, application, infrastructure, security, or vendor-based.
Technology Service Availability, Stability, Security, and Compliance:
*Ensure campus technology services remain available, stable, secure, and compliant with corporate standards and applicable regulatory expectations.
*Take accountability for campus infrastructure readiness, including readiness for global initiatives, site programs, facility changes, application deployments, and operational events.
*Anticipate global or enterprise initiatives that could affect site infrastructure, connectivity, workplace services, or operational continuity.
*Ensure infrastructure, connectivity, workplace services, and supporting platforms properly support business applications and site operations.
*Identify operational risks, service gaps, and recurring issues; engage the relevant IT teams or service providers to drive resolution.
Local Delivery Orchestration and Standards Application:
*Coordinate all relevant IT-related topics at the site, mainly across infrastructure, workplace services, service desk, OT/Labs technology dependencies, and digital initiatives.
*Ensure site execution follows standards and guidance defined by the relevant enterprise CoEs and adapted for OT/Labs environments where applicable.
*Apply OT CoE guidance for manufacturing and lab environments, but do not replace the design authority of Core Technology CoEs for core infrastructure technologies.
*Ensure clear ownership, follow-up, communication, and stakeholder alignment for operational and project-related technology activities.
*Validate that completed work is accepted by the business and appropriately transitioned to production support.
MSP, Vendor, and Central IT Coordination:
*Act as the local coordination point for work delivered by core MSP teams, central IT teams, application teams, engineering partners, and technology vendors.
*Ensure service providers have the right priorities, business context, access, and stakeholder engagement to execute successfully at the site.
*Monitor local service quality and escalate concerns through the appropriate MSP, CoE, BRM, VMO, or IT leadership channels.
*Coordinate with Engineering, Automation, Laboratory, and local business contacts when technology delivery requires site participation or business validation.
*Ensure MSP and vendor documentation is received, reviewed for completeness, and handed over appropriately for production support.
Incident, Major Issue, and Operational Risk Coordination:
*Coordinate with related IT teams during major incidents or significant service disruptions affecting the site.
*Assess and communicate business impact to site leadership and relevant IT stakeholders.
*Ensure the right technical teams are engaged quickly, including MSP, central infrastructure teams, application teams, security, OT CoE, vendors, or local site contacts as needed.
*Support post-incident reviews, lessons learned, and follow-up actions to reduce recurrence and improve service resilience.
*Represent site priorities during recovery activities while ensuring technical decisions remain aligned with standards and compliance expectations.
Continuous Improvement, Capability Building, and Knowledge Management:
*Maintain strong motivation to continuously build and refresh hard IT skills relevant to site operations, including operational constraints, network, connectivity, workplace services, infrastructure, and service delivery models.
*Promote continuous improvement of technology services, processes, vendor performance, and user experience at the site.
*Capture site feedback and recurring challenges and provide input to OT CoE, Core Technology CoEs, Security Office, BRMs, and service providers.
*Support adoption of global technology programs and ensure change impacts are understood and communicated locally.
*Help maintain local technology knowledge and context so the site remains resilient even when execution is performed by external or central teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Bachelor"s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
*Advanced experience in IT service delivery, infrastructure operations, workplace services, connectivity, or site technology support.
*Strong understanding of IT processes including incident management, change management, risk management, demand intake, and operational follow-up.
*Ability to work across Manufacturing, Laboratories, Engineering, Facilities, Quality, business functions, and central IT teams.
*Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with site leadership and technical teams.
*Ability to translate business needs into structured technology requirements and coordinate the correct ownership path.
*Experience coordinating MSPs, vendors, central IT teams, or cross-functional delivery teams.
*Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities without losing risk, compliance, or business impact visibility.
