The incumbent will serve as a high level professional whose activities will span the interface between the physicians and primary nurses who manage inpatients on the Liver Transplant Services at Moffitt-Long Medical Center, UCSF. The Nurse Practitioner will act as a full member of the Liver Transplant Team, taking primary responsibility for the safe delivery of care to inpatients in consultation with attending's or residents. This team member will meet productivity expectations as set forth by the Chief of Transplantation, performing any duties related to patient care activities that are appropriate and clearly delineated. The incumbent will be responsible for the inpatient care of patients admitted to the liver transplant service. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills and be able to work with a multidisciplinary team that includes attending surgeons and physicians, resident physicians, medical students, pharmacists, and social workers. The person in this position complements and assists the work of the surgical residents and the attending staff. All activities will be performed as a part of the physician team and under direct or indirect supervision. Under the supervision of the UCSF Department of Transplant Surgery and guided by the policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and bylaws of the UCSF Medical Center, some Nursing Policies, and, Medical Staff Policies, and any unique ambulatory patient services this Nurse Practitioner (NP) position is assigned to in Liver Transplant. This AHP position may perform delegated functions as appropriate to their "scope of practice". In general, the "scope of practice" includes the management of chronic stable medical conditions, routine care, acute or critical care, and medical and surgical procedures per approved standardized procedures as identified by the list available on the Medical Staff Office website. The CIDP approved standardized procedures are unique to each person and are unlikely to include ALL SPs on the list. This position may provide patient care in approved age groups and UCSF Health licensed settings. The AHP has responsibility for the quality of standards of care for a specified patient population and evidences self-direction and accountability in the development of this role within the all UCSF medical center locations. UCSF Health requires all Advanced Health Practitioners (AHP) to be credentialed through its Medical Staff Services Office (MSSO) in order to practice and function in their clinical role. This applies to both adult and pediatric AHPs in the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at all UCSF Health sites (Parnassus, Mt. Zion, Satellite Clinics, et al). Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 30-60 days and must be completed prior to the first working day.
Required Qualifications: For NP2 PER DIEM: Minimum of 6 months of NP experience with care of ICU and or med/surg floor level patients or completion of UCSF NP Fellowship Program.
