Waukesha County Parks and Land Use is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Fiscal Assistant to support the financial and administrative operations that keep our department running smoothly.

While much of this work happens behind the scenes, its impact reaches throughout our community. From processing financial transactions and payroll to supporting department staff and assisting members of the public, the Fiscal Assistant plays an important role in helping Waukesha County deliver high-quality services to residents and visitors.

What you'll do

As a Fiscal Assistant, you'll bring accuracy, organization, and a customer-focused approach to a variety of financial and administrative responsibilities, including:

  • Manage financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchase orders.
  • Process payroll accurately and efficiently, helping ensure employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
  • Reconcile financial activity including cash, checks, and credit card transactions and address discrepancies as needed.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support general accounting processes, including billing and journal entries.
  • Provide front desk coverage as a primary backup to the department receptionist, offering a welcoming and helpful experience to visitors, employees, and the public.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and department staff to resolve questions, meet deadlines, and ensure financial and administrative processes run efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute ideas that make day-to-day operations more accurate, efficient, and effective.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements
1. High School Diploma or GED.
2. One-year of post high school work experience in finance or accounting.
3. One-year of post high school education from a recognized college or university in accounting, finance, business, or a closely related field may be substituted for the work experience requirement.
