Tharros is seeking aSystems Engineer specializing in Computer Systems to support NSWCDD in Dahlgren, VA. This position provides systems and mission engineering expertise supporting the development, integration, modernization, security, and sustainment of cyberspace capabilities, enterprise software applications, and cyber-enabled mission systems throughout the full system lifecycle.

The position requires a strong understanding of computer systems engineering, system architecture and design, hardware and software integration, requirements development, system interfaces, configuration management, technical documentation, and test and evaluation. Projects include engineering support for complex, software-intensive DoD computer systems, emphasizing translating operational and engineering requirements into system designs; integrating hardware, software, and networks; evaluating system performance and interoperability; and supporting system development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment throughout the full system lifecycle.

Requirements



  • Develop Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Interface Change Requests (ICDs), and Interface Design Specifications (IDS) for weapons control systems
  • Develop Weapon Specifications (WS) and other system design/integration documents for surface combat, control, and situational awareness systems
  • Support weapon and combat system certification processes, including self-certification criteria
  • Perform system analysis and requirements decomposition for weapons control and combat systems
  • Support system integration testing and validation activities
  • Participate in technical design reviews, configuration control boards, and working groups
  • Maintain requirements traceability from specifications to design documentation
  • Support shipboard system integration and fleet deployment events
  • Document test results, engineering analyses, and system performance assessments
  • Active Secret clearance; ability to obtain a TS/SCI
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline, and eight (4) years of relevant experience
    • OR ten (6) years of a demonstrated and established knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to specific technical disciplines required, including the qualifications below; or US Naval operational experience at the E7 level or higher.

  • 4+ years of engineering experience for System Engineer, two (2) years concurrent specialized demonstrated expertise in understanding and developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Interface Change Requests (ICD), Interface Design Specifications (IDS), Weapon Specifications (WS) and other system design/system integration documents for weapons control systems and surface combat, control and/or situational awareness systems.
  • Experience in requirements definition, system design parameters, concepts operation, risk assessment, producibility studies/analyses, performance analyses, test and evaluation, post-delivery support.
