$25.01 to $27.51 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and may include evenings for Board of County Commissioners and advisory boards meetings as required. Performs experienced technical work providing technical and administrative support relating to the various advisory boards responsible for making recommendations and decisions relating to specific areas of Planning & Development Department activities. The work includes processing applications for rezoning, conditional use permits (CUPs), amendments to and/or removal of Binding Development Plans (BDPs), Small-Scale Comprehensive Plan Amendments (SSCPAs); coordinating the annual meeting schedules and the associated agenda due dates for the various advisory boards; preparing agendas for the Brevard County Planning & Zoning/Local Planning Agency (LPA) Board meetings, County Commission Zoning meetings, Board of Adjustment (BOA), Building Construction Advisory Committee (BCAC) meetings, Port St. John (PSJ) Dependent Special District Board meetings, North Merritt Island (NMI) Special District Board meetings, and the Contractor Licensing Board meetings; responding to inquiries from the public regarding meeting schedules, agenda items, procedures, and polices; taking, transcribing, and distributing meeting minutes; and providing technical and administrative support to Planning & Development staff as needed.



REQUIREMENTS: Six (6) years of progressively responsible technical and/or administrative support experience, which includes two (2) years explaining and interpreting laws, codes, and regulations for a governmental entityORsuccessful completion of two (2) years of college coursework in Legal Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, Organizational Management, or a closely related fieldPLUSfour (4) years of progressively responsible technical and/or administrative support experience explaining and interpreting laws, codes, and regulations for a governmental entity. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Experience preparing agendas and minutes for a governmental entity is preferred.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of employment, an active Florida Notary Public certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
