THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a Corrections Community Center Monitor who is ready to bring strong energy, focus, and commitment to re-entry support. In this role, you help guide re-entrants, strengthen center safety, and build positive relationships that support successful transition back into the community. You work with a dedicated team that values teamwork, clear communication, and steady leadership. This position offers meaningful responsibility, daily variety, and the chance to make a real impact at the Erie Community Corrections Center.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports daily operations at the Erie Community Corrections Center (CCC) and ensures safety, accountability, and positive interaction with re-entrants and visitors. The role strengthens center security, promotes constructive behavior, and reinforces re-entry efforts. As a Corrections Community Center Monitor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Monitoring: Observe re-entrant behavior through direct interaction and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system, maintain activity logs, and conduct counts, drills, and searches
  • Center Security: Control movement within the center, manage sign-in and sign-out procedures, and inventory medications, equipment, and supplies
  • Orientation Support: Review rules and policies with new re-entrants, assign rooms and housekeeping duties, and complete destination checks
  • Testing and Documentation: Administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests, write behavior observations, issue misconducts, and attend disciplinary hearings
  • Public Interaction: Provide information to visitors, respond to concerns from the public or crime victims, and serve as a contact for law enforcement agencies
  • Team Assistance: Guide new monitors in their duties, support inspections, and prepare reports and related documents

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Work hours will include different shifts or irregular hours.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be willing and able to work in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
  • You must have the ability to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military)
