Summary:

The Sr. Director, Strategic Partnerships is accountable for managing the day to day commercial partnerships from the launch and onboarding of newly signed partners through their long-term growth and retention. Strategic Partnerships is a channel within the sales organization, and this role is a senior, field-based role at the intersection of sales, business development, operations, and execution. The Sr. Director's main role is the successful implementation, execution, and performance management of newly signed partnerships, ensuring that every partner is brought online cleanly across internal and external stakeholders and positioned to perform from day one.

Success in this role requires deep fluency in how the company's portfolio products are sold and distributed within long-acting pain management and related therapeutic areas including the operational realities of both W-2 and 1099 commercial models and the judgment to translate signed agreements into functioning, revenue-generating relationships.


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end onboarding and implementation of newly signed partners, coordinating all internal functions and external partner stakeholders to a successful go-live.
  • Establish clear expectations, support structures, and accountability frameworks for newly onboarded partners, and coordinate appropriate partner training.
  • Build and refine a repeatable implementation playbook that shortens time-to-go-live and creates a consistent partner experience.
  • Serve as the central point of accountability during launch, resolving operational, contractual, and commercial issues as they arise.
  • Collaborate across internal functions including Business Development, Sales & Marketing, Analytics, Professional Education, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure distributor readiness and product availability.
  • Drive the growth of new partnerships and the ongoing maintenance and expansion of existing partner relationships.
  • Own the health of the partner portfolio, with accountability for partner revenue and volume growth, partner retention, and onboarding throughput.
  • Drive and track distributor performance against KPIs, capitalizing on opportunities and implementing improvement plans where needed.
  • Execute the distributor growth strategy to expand geographic coverage and market penetration.
  • Identify and act on expansion opportunities within established partnerships.
  • Support the development of joint go-to-market playbooks and educational materials with strategic partners to drive product adoption and clinical understanding.
  • Represent the company at partner meetings, regional forums, and partner summits.
  • Synthesize input from Insights & Analytics and Business Development to inform partner strategy, prioritization, and execution.
  • Apply working knowledge of trade operations, finance, and ASP dynamics to structure and manage partnerships effectively, ensuring sound partner economics and distribution mechanics.
  • Understand and navigate the distribution and reimbursement realities of the company's portfolio products.
  • Report regularly to the VP of Strategic Partnerships on partnership performance, implementation status, and portfolio health.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This role has no direct reports at present. The Sr. Director may build and lead a small implementation or partnership team as the function expands.

Interaction

The incumbent works closely with Business Development, Insights & Analytics, Commercial, Sales & Marketing, Professional Education, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and external strategic partners and distributors.


Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in a life sciences or business field preferred.
  • 7-10 years of progressive commercial experience in the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how portfolio products in this space are sold and distributed, including both W-2 and 1099 commercial models.
  • Direct experience standing up, onboarding, managing commercial partnerships, distributor relationships, or comparable field-based commercial arrangements.
  • Experience in long-acting pain management, specialty therapeutics, or related bioscience therapeutic areas strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with how portfolio products are sold, distributed, and reimbursed, including ASP dynamics.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% in a field-based capacity.

  • Strong project- and program-management skills, with the ability to drive multiple partner implementations to completion simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to cultivate and maintain positive relationships with partners, distributors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Commercial finance acumen, including ASP and its role in product economics.
  • Working knowledge of trade operations and channel/distribution management.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate and negotiate.
  • Clear, credible communication skills with both field and headquarters audiences.
  • Ability to travel, including by auto and plane, is required to achieve business objectives.
  • Valid driver's license in the state in which you reside, a safe driving history, and reliable transportation.

Pay Transparency

The base pay range for this role is $204,000 annually to $265,000 annually. The range is what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. The range considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: geographic markets, business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience, training, licensure, and certifications. Depending on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered.
