Education Requirements



  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or coursework in Machine Tool Technology, CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, and manufacturing specifications.


Experience Requirements



  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC machining experience operating CNC mills, turning centers, VMCs, or similar equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 2 years of CNC programming experience using CAM software.
  • Hass Programming.
  • Experience creating and editing CNC programs, performing machine setups, and validating production processes.
  • Strong understanding of G-code, machine controls, feeds and speeds, tooling selection, and machining best practices.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment to verify part quality and conformance.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience with 3-axis milling, CNC turning, mill-turn centers, and horizontal machining centers (HMCs).
  • Strong knowledge of fixture design, tool selection, process development, and manufacturability improvements.
  • Proficiency with CAM software and CAD models.
  • Experience developing standardized setup sheets, work instructions, and machining processes.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience supporting prototype, R&D, and production machining environments is highly preferred.


Physical Capabilities



  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform machine setup activities throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle tooling, fixtures, raw materials, and machined parts.
  • Ability to work safely around CNC machinery while wearing required PPE.
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for precision machining and inspection activities.


Job Duties



  • Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and turning centers to manufacture production components and prototype parts.
  • Create and upload CNC programs using CAM software, engineering drawings, and CAD models.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, workholding, cutting parameters, and machining strategies for optimal performance.
  • Run setup pieces and validate machining programs before production release.
  • Perform first-article and in-process inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Develop, document, and improve machining processes, setup procedures, and work instructions.
  • Design and build custom fixtures to improve efficiency and part quality.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and Production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve manufacturability.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and maintain an organized, safe, and efficient machine shop environment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, safety, and cost reduction.
