What to Expect

We are seeking a skilled Network Circuit Engineer to lead and manage the end-to-end turn-up (provisioning, activation, testing, validation, and commissioning) of network circuits for our ISP operations. In this role, you will ensure reliable delivery of Ethernet, optical, IP, and related connectivity service. You will work cross-functionally with provisioning, field operations, network engineering, NOC, carriers/vendors, and customers to drive efficient turn-ups, rapid issue resolution, and high first-pass success rates while maintaining service quality and SLAs.

What You'll Do
  • Own end-to-end circuit turn-up processes for ISP services, including Metro Ethernet (1G/10G/100G), Starlink, fiber/optical transport, and related access or backbone circuits
  • Plan, schedule, execute, and document circuit activation: port/path assignments, network element and CPE configuration, power-on/bring-up, continuity and functional testing
  • Perform comprehensive testing and validation (optical power, throughput, latency, jitter, packet loss, MAC learning, end-to-end connectivity) to confirm service readiness at the demarcation point
  • Troubleshoot circuit-level and Layer 1-3 issues (physical layer, signal integrity, optics/SFPs, configuration, routing/switching, carrier handoffs); perform root-cause analysis and drive resolution with internal teams, field technicians, and external providers
  • Develop, refine, and maintain turn-up procedures, Method of Procedures (MOPs), checklists, test scripts, and automation to improve efficiency, repeatability, and quality
  • Coordinate closely with field technicians, project managers, carriers, customers, and cross-functional teams for installations, upgrades, bandwidth changes, disconnects, and migrations
  • Manage circuit delivery, documentation, test reports, and knowledge capture of lessons learned
  • Support escalations, provide status updates, and ensure timely handoff to operations/NOC once circuits are fully validated and accepted
  • Contribute to process improvements, tool/fixture enhancements, lab or remote test setups, and readiness for new technologies or higher-capacity services
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, industry best practices, and relevant telecom/regulatory requirements

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in circuit/network turn-up, provisioning, testing, activation, or implementation within an ISP, telecom carrier, or large-scale network environment
  • Strong practical knowledge of Ethernet services, optical transport, IP networking, and circuit testing methodologies
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, CPE, and transport equipment; familiarity with common protocols (Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, basic routing such as OSPF/BGP)
  • Proficiency with test equipment and tools (optical power meters, traffic generators, loopback testing, etc.) and interpreting results
  • Ability to read and work from circuit designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, order details, and network documentation
  • Solid troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and documentation skills in a production network environment
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and organizational abilities; comfortable working with field teams, customers, and carriers in a fast-paced setting
  • Ability to manage multiple turn-ups, priorities, and shifts as needed (some roles involve contact-center style or on-call support)
  • Experience with Metro Ethernet, Carrier Ethernet, or large enterprise circuit deliveries
