Job Summary

We are currently hiring a Vice President, Legal Compliance for our Legal and Contracts team, and our ideal candidate will possess a passion for impacting lives and our community. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the legal compliance function across all Staffmark Group brands and operating companies, building a formalized and proactive compliance program centered on mitigating existing and emerging legal risks. This role partners cross-functionally with HR, operations, sales, and brand leadership to translate litigation trends, regulatory developments, and client assessments into concrete compliance initiatives, policies, and field-ready training.

Essential Duties

Your Day-to-Day Leadership includes Activities such as these:

  • Assess the organization's current legal and regulatory risk landscape and lead the legal compliance function in prioritizing the initiatives that matter most, balancing urgency, exposure, and available resources.
  • Analyze current and recent past litigation and claims trends to identify recurring or emerging exposure, and convert those findings into concrete, actionable compliance initiatives, policies, and training.
  • Monitor, interpret, and lead compliance with state- and locality-specific temporary staffing laws, ensuring policies, contracts, and field practices stay current as laws evolve.
  • Partner with HR and other corporate departments to assist with development of training, communications, and practical guidance that make compliance requirements clear and actionable for branch and operations staff and for clients, including guidance tied to specific state temporary staffing law obligations.
  • Support Legal's ownership of compliance review for new and existing AI technologies used across the organization and monitor developing state and federal AI-related laws to keep policies and practices current.
  • Drive the compliance function toward greater structure and organization - standardizing processes, documentation, and reporting so compliance work is consistent, trackable, and scalable across brands.

Competencies we value for this role include: Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in employment law, labor and employment compliance, or a related compliance function. Demonstrated experience building, formalizing, or scaling a compliance program across a multi-brand or multi-location organization. Strong analytical and risk-prioritization skills with the ability to translate litigation trends and client assessment findings into practical compliance initiatives. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to train and influence field and operations teams and external clients. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships across multiple business units operating with varying processes and systems. Highly organized and self-directed with the ability to operate as both a strategic advisor and a hands-on program builder.
