THE POSITION

The Clerical Assistant 2 position with the Pennsylvania State Police, Bureau of Training and Education, offers a chance to support important training activities across the state. This role helps keep training programs organized and running smoothly. You will assist staff, applicants, and partner agencies while building strong office skills. This position provides an exciting opportunity to support education that strengthens public safety.



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Bureau of Training and Education by handling clerical tasks that keep training programs organized and efficient. The role helps manage course applications, records, and communication across multiple training locations. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Course Processing: Manage applications, training files, rosters, certificates, and related documents for Academy and regional courses
  • Record Maintenance: Create and update applicant training records and scan and organize training documents
  • Communication Support: Handle calls and distribute training correspondence to staff, agencies, and law enforcement partners
  • Workers Compensation: Serve as the Bureau representative for workers compensation matters
  • Event Assistance: Support Department ceremonies by preparing materials and performing receptionist duties
  • General Clerical: Complete assigned tasks and assist at the front desk when needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • Six months or more of experience using Microsoft Word.
  • Six months or more of experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Access (or equivalent database program).
  • Six months or more experience in handling detailed files.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
