Scholarship America is seeking seasonal staff to fill our Evaluation Specialist position, which reviews, analyzes, and evaluates incoming scholarship applications for our programs through our proprietary software application in a virtual work environment. This position works a reduced hourly schedule with morning or afternoon shifts available in five (5)- hour increments, Monday-Friday, November-June, to support client needs annually. You will ensure applicants include valid documentation in their scholarship application, review essays for subject content & grammatical mechanics, and update the software system appropriately to process applications in the workflow stream.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Review scholarship applications for eligibility requirements through online proprietary software as defined by the unique program guidelines.
  • Evaluate scholarship applications and academic transcripts using Scholarship America methodology according to specific program guidelines.
  • Evaluate submitted student essays and financial data.
  • Maintain program and work logs through automated proprietary software as well as maintaining data matrix materials for reference.
  • Provide online coaching/mentoring to students through software technology.
  • Follow Scholarship America quality assurance guidelines.
  • Use written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with internal customers.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate, listen to, and understand information and complex ideas presented to apply to the evaluation of multiple assigned scholarship programs.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Highly organized, strong attention to detail in order to produce the highest quality work, including follow-up and follow-through.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team setting while maintaining individual assignments and responsibilities.
  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Regular & timely attendance to support business & client needs.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Outlook, Word, & Excel).
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in education, accounting, or business.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal Spanish and/or French.
  • Cultural awareness to appreciate varied lived experiences and the potential impact on educational achievement.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a medical-related field of study-not only is this an indicator of your skills, but it is also valuable as you work to empathize with students in their educational journey.

Full Pay range: Non-Exempt ($14.81 - $18.51 - $22.21)

This is the pay range for our staff in this position, from entry-level to fully independent and proficient in the role. The candidate selected for this position will be offered a wage commensurate with their background and skill set, as aligned with our business needs. This will result in an initial offer of $15.00 per hour.

We know the best person for the job could be anywhere, so this position can be remote within the continental United States or hybrid from either our office in Bloomington or Saint Peter, MN. To support that flexibility, we provide all employees with the equipment they need to succeed in their role, including a laptop, monitor(s), a mouse, and a keyboard.

Our employees enjoy a team-based, flexible work schedule, allowing them to flex around our core hours of Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Central Time. Because our roles require full availability and engagement during scheduled work hours, employees must make arrangements so that they are not serving as the primary caretaker of others during that time.
