Education Specialist

Join the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and help shape the future of cancer education and research training. As an Education Specialist, you will lead the development and administration of innovative training programs that engage learners from K-12 through undergraduate and advanced trainee levels, helping build the next generation of cancer researchers and healthcare professionals.

Reporting to the Assistant and Associate Directors of Cancer Education, Research and Training, this role serves as a key partner in designing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating educational programs that reach learners across UW-Madison, Dane County, and communities throughout Wisconsin. As the Education Specialist, you will collaborate with faculty, scientists, educators and institutional partners on meaningful program administration and learning experiences, track participant outcomes, assess program effectiveness and drive continuous program improvement. The position also works closely with fellow Education Specialists to support mentoring initiatives, faculty development programs, and trainee-focused educational activities that advance the mission of the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

• This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

• Designs and develops engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online

• Designs, develops, and delivers faculty development and engagement programs and activities

• Designs, develops, or recommends multimedia learning materials. Facilitates communications with multimedia service providers to ensure instructional needs are met

• Collects, organizes, interprets, and disseminates data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness

• Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies

• Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms

• Researches, designs, and/or acquires learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning

• Provides training and technical support directly to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums

• Designs, develops, organizes, maintains, and consults on instructional materials, activities, curricula, and assessment resources in accordance with current pedagogical practices, cognitive/learning science, and design tools and methods

• The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 up to $80,000 for highly experienced candidates and actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

• Minimum of two years of professional experience in the following areas: learning and development, training, teaching, instructional design, program development/management &/or adult learning methodologies.

• Experience planning, coordinating, and managing multiple projects, programs, or events simultaneously.

• Experience developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, community partners, or external organizations.

• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to a variety of audiences.

• Proficiency with common office and collaboration technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Teams, databases, or similar tools).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing instructional materials, learning resources, or educational programming and executing them.

• Prior responsibility for delivering educational activities from the idea stage through evaluation

• Experience working in large, complex organizations such as an academic medical center, research institution, cancer center, or health sciences environment.

• Knowledge of best practices related to learner engagement, instructional design, mentoring, or workforce development.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required,

• Master's degree preferred.

• Certification in an educational or training-related field/program preferred.
