Work Schedule: 4/10 Alternate Work Schedule (AWS)


Job Overview

Candidates must reside within the service territory and be able to work onsite at DCPP (Avila Beach) weekly.



  • Hybrid assignment
  • Potential opportunity to convert to FTE, but conversion is not guaranteed
  • Laptop will be provided
  • PPE will be provided
  • Candidate will be badged at the SLO worksite
  • Background check and drug screening required
  • Candidate must agree to the 4/10 AWS
  • Candidate will be required to sign an acknowledgment of the 4/10 AWS prior to starting

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and document market research and supplier risk analysis to verify the financial health of existing and potential suppliers.
  • Create and maintain category plans.
  • Develop and review supplier performance data.
  • Work with suppliers to drive ongoing value discovery.
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial strategic relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through strategic sourcing processes.
  • Develop and execute negotiation strategies for mid-complexity spend categories.
  • Lead the development of category strategies of medium complexity.
  • Maintain awareness of industry and market trends through ongoing research.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for specific commodities or services.


Skills & Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage one or more sourcing spend categories.
  • Manage all Tier 1 contracts associated with assigned categories.
  • Develop strategic category plans focused on:

    • Cost savings
    • Service excellence
    • Diversity spend
    • Total cost of ownership


  • Effectively influence stakeholders, including senior leadership, to gain understanding, acceptance, and commitment to sourcing strategies.
  • Partner with Lines of Business (LOB) to develop, source, and negotiate major contracts.
  • Play a key role in the Supplier Relationship Management / Scorecard process.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to analyze and combine information from multiple sources and use logic to reach appropriate conclusions.
  • Ability to apply contract processes and procedures and relevant contracts/licensing, including:

    • ESC
    • IBEW
    • Tort
    • Contract law


  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including:

    • Excel
    • Word
    • PowerPoint
    • Access


  • Ability to relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people.
  • Strong partnership-building and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to build strong, high-performing teams that leverage diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
  • Knowledge of technical/functional aspects of the relevant trade, occupation, or role.
  • Ability to apply project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of databases and information systems, specifically SAP.


Education
Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.


Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or a job-related discipline, or equivalent experience.


Certifications - Preferred

  • CPSM - Certified Professional in Supply Management / Institute for Supply Management
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) Certification


Experience
Minimum

  • 10 years of experience in procurement or a related field.


Preferred

  • Experience in contract management
  • 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing
  • 10 years of experience in supply chain or a related field
