The Department of Environmental and Public Health Sciences is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff, which has one of the oldest environmental and industrial hygiene programs, and is home to an NIOSH Education Research Center (ERC) A full-time Research Scientist position is available to work under the supervision of Dr. Jun Wang. This position will join a highly productive research program focusing on aerosol and air quality issues and participate in different research projects, protocols and experiments on various topics, but mainly on overseeing a project on the development and testing of newly developed respiratory protection devices for general public use. The initial appointment is expected to be a continuous 12-month period, with the possibility of renewal based on funding, performance, and project needs. Essential Functions Modify and adapt experimental protocols, techniques and procedures to the project requirements. Design, coordinate and conduct experimental procedures. Prepare research results and written summaries of results in manuscript form for publications and in graphics form for presentation at research meetings and for grant proposals. May submit research proposals as principal investigator for intramural/extramural funding. May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to graduate research assistants and other research staff. Perform related duties based on departmental need. Minimum Requirements Doctoral degree in industrial hygiene, environmental health sciences, occupational safety and health, public health, or related engineering field. At least one year of independent research experience after graduating from a doctoral program. Required Education PhD and/or MD required. Required Experience Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline. Additional Qualifications Considered Knowledge of respiratory protection devices such as N95, PAPR, etc. Experience with statistical software, qualitative analysis software, survey platforms, data visualization tools, or mixed-methods research. Familiar with developing manuscripts for peer-reviewed, conference presentations, technical reports, or grant contributions. Present findings at professional conferences, stakeholder meetings, advisory groups, and project meetings. Mentor students or junior research staff as appropriate and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
