Dematic is seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Installation Foreman to join our growing team. This role is responsible for leading small crews, executing mechanical installation tasks, and ensuring safety, quality, and productivity on customer project sites across the continental United States. The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $29.00 - $36.00 per hour at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Oversee and provide daily direction to a team of 1-3 mechanical installers
  • Support larger teams and potentially lead operations on alternate shifts when the primary supervisor is off-site
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to less experienced personnel
  • Participate in and, when required, lead daily stand-up meetings

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, including:
    • Behavior-Based Safety Observations (BBSO)
    • Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHA)
    • Jobsite safety meetings
  • Take personal responsibility for safety and ensure the safety of team members
  • Maintain compliance with all company and site-specific safety regulations

Project Execution

  • Complete assigned mechanical installation tasks within scheduled timelines
  • Perform and oversee installation and maintenance of:
    • Conveyor systems and components
    • Structural and header steel
    • Platforms and guardrails
    • Rack systems
    • Air piping systems (aluminum, copper, black iron)
  • Assist in equipment run-in and system start-up

Technical & Quality Oversight

  • Read, interpret, and execute work from engineered drawings and layouts
  • Perform audits to ensure installation quality and adherence to standards
  • Execute and support discipline-specific work, including exposure to VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) systems
  • Identify issues proactively and recommend corrective actions

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide regular site status updates to Project Managers and Site Managers
  • Write clear, concise trip reports and job documentation
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and project stakeholders

General Duties

  • Perform independent (stand-alone) tasks as required
  • Maintain jobsite housekeeping and organization standards
  • Support overall project success through teamwork and adaptability

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical degree or specialized training preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical installation, including:
    • Conveyor systems
    • Structural steel erection
    • Equipment installation and layout

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret technical/engineered drawings
  • Strong safety awareness and leadership mindset
  • Effective communication and basic supervisory skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, reporting tools)

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
  • Ability to push, pull, squat, crawl, and walk on large construction sites
  • Comfortable working in various climates and environments

Other Requirements

  • Willingness to travel 100% within the continental U.S.
  • Valid driver's license required
