Job Summary
This position provides specialized equestrian knowledge and operational support to assist in the continued enhancement of The Omni Homestead Resort's equestrian program. Working in partnership with the Stables Manager and Director of Recreation, this position will help identify and implement opportunities to elevate horse care, facilities, programming, guest experience, safety, and revenue generation.
This position serves as an additional resource to the existing Equestrian team and does not replace or supersede the responsibilities or authority of the Stables Manager.
Essential Functions
* Partner with the Stables Manager and Director of Recreation to assess the current equestrian operation and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Provide recommendations to enhance the overall condition, appearance, organization, and functionality of the stables, paddocks and related equestrian facilities.
* Assist with establishing and maintaining appropriate standards for horse care, feeding, grooming, tack, equipment, stable procedures and overall presentation.
* Assist in evaluating the Resort's horses for temperament, condition, capabilities and suitability for various levels of riders and equestrian activities.
* Support development of a long-term plan for the Resort's horse population, including recommendations regarding future purchase, lease or replacement needs.
* Assist with evaluating paddocks, fencing, gates, shelters, water systems, drainage and other equestrian infrastructure and recommending priorities for improvement.
* Provide input into the repair, enhancement and potential expansion of the Resort's equestrian trail system.
* Help develop procedures for assessing guest riding ability and appropriately matching riders with horses and experiences.
* Identify opportunities to elevate the arrival and overall guest experience, including the stable reception area, carriages, trailers, riding equipment, s'mores experiences and other guest-facing areas.
* Assist with training and development of Equestrian associates, including service standards, horse-handling practices, safety and presentation.
* Provide recommendations regarding appropriate staffing levels, uniforms and operating procedures.
* Support the development of new or enhanced equestrian programming and experiences.
* Identify potential revenue opportunities, including private instruction, premium experiences, retail merchandise and boarding opportunities for Resort members.
* Work collaboratively with Recreation leadership and other Resort departments when equestrian initiatives intersect with broader Resort projects or recreational activities.
* Perform other equestrian-related duties and special projects as assigned by the Stables Manager or Director of Recreation.
Qualifications
* Extensive hands-on experience with horses and equestrian operations.
* Strong knowledge of horse care, handling, grooming, feeding and stable management practices.
* Knowledge of equestrian facilities, paddocks, fencing, trails, tack and related equipment.
* Experience evaluating horses and matching horses appropriately to riders and activities.
* Understanding of equestrian safety practices and risk management.
* Ability to evaluate an existing operation and recommend practical improvements.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with long-tenured associates and Resort leadership.
* Experience within a luxury hospitality, private club, competitive equestrian or similar high-service environment preferred.
* Ability to work a flexible, on-call schedule based on operational and project needs.
