What to Expect
Tesla's Energy Engineering group is looking for a highly motivated individual to program-manage highly complex wire harness design engineering for Energy Products, like Megapack, Megapod and non-industrial products. Harnessing is key to product operation and communication and sits at the intersection of power electronics, LV/system electronics, thermal systems, and firmware. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. You will interface with thermal, electrical, mechanical, and harness design engineering, controls and firmware, system integration and validation, manufacturing engineering and operations, supply chain, compliance, reliability, safety and field operations to define and drive development of wire harnessing for new programs while also managing change on existing programs. As part of the Engineering Program Management team, you will be immersed in the design, validation, and manufacturing process for wire harnessing and will shepherd projects from concept through prototype validation and into production ramp. You will use your engineering background to understand wire harness design constraints and manufacturing requirements, manage technical risks, and define prototyping and supply chain strategies that accelerate development, procurement, and manufacturing bring-up. You will communicate and present program status, highlight schedule risk, and develop recovery plans in the event of project slip.
What You'll Do
- Work with Electrical, Thermal, Harness, Mechanical Design Engineering, Controls and Firmware, Reliability, Safety, Compliance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Operations, Facilities and Construction and other supporting functions to identify and scope harness work for key Industrial Energy Products
- Ensure the delivery of the right quantities of high-quality harnesses / components / assemblies on time for various programs for prototypes, pre-production, and test articles
- Create, maintain, communicate, and present schedules to the engineering leadership team, covering harness design, validation, and manufacturing readiness
- Coordinate design releases and engineering change requests/orders by understanding each stakeholder's requirements
- Track and report significant issues using JIRA, Excel, and other custom tools (confluence, dashboards, etc.)
- Coordinate ordering, shipment, delivery, and inventory location for prototypes, pre-production, and test articles
- Manage change control and configuration management, ensuring smooth transitions across design iterations and build phases
- Prioritize the engineering team's work based on risk, resources and payback
- Identify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacks
- Refine processes, tools, and templates that will improve risk and change management across Energy programs
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience leading complex engineering programs for mass production products (automotive, energy, HVAC, or hardware systems preferred)
- Working knowledge of wire harnessing: Understanding schematics, engineering drawings, CAD tools (like CATIA or AutoCAD), and automotive, aerospace, or defense industry, standards for harnessing, build process and validation
- Familiarity with tracking software (such as Jira or MS Project) and hands-on manufacturing or assembly line oversight
- Demonstrated experience with the engineering product design cycle, engineering builds and validation, manufacturing line bring-up, and ramp to mass production
- Demonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and communicating schedules across multiple engineering functions
- Demonstrated understanding of multilevel Bill of Material structures, hardware/software integration, and product release/change management
- Detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills
- Experience driving cross-functional alignment between engineering, supply chain, operations, and manufacturing teams
- Degree in an Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering /Mechanical Engineering /Systems Engineering, or a closely related field or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation
$144,800 - $253,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
