Key Position Details:

  • .8 FTE (64 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 8-hour day shift

  • Home site is River Falls Hospital, with responsibilities supporting both River Falls Hospital and United Hospital - Hastings Regina Campus

Job Description:

Provides supervision and oversight to Surgical Technologists and other clinical support staff in an Operating Room setting. Assists Patient Care Manager in day-to-day coordination of the unit, including staff education, performance management, scheduling and communication; as well as quality improvement and other management activities as delegated.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Supports day-to-day operations
    • Works with Charge Nurse to support staff work activities.
    • Assures optimal equipment function, including scheduling repairs and routine maintenance as needed.
    • Analyses workplace for hazard and safety concerns, takes action as needed.
    • Assists in the identification and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, facilitating the integration of quality improvement activities into practice.
    • Monitors staffing levels and develops staffing model recommendations.
  • Provides educational support
    • Acts as role model and mentor to Surgical Technologists and other clinical support staff.
    • Collaborates with preceptors to coordinate orientation plan and schedule for each new employee.
    • Monitors progress of new employees, and provides constructive feedback and support.
    • Assists in identifying staff learning and development needs, including unit competency plan.
  • Supervises and assists in performance management of delegated staff
    • Supervises and serves as a resource to staff.
    • Conducts performance reviews and manages ongoing performance.
    • Provides feedback to staff as appropriate, using coaching and mentoring techniques.
    • Participates in interviewing and hiring of new staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health related field
  • 2+ years operating room experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree-Registered Nurse

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below
    Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
    Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
    Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Physical Demands

  • Medium Work*:
  • Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently

Pay Range

Pay Range: $42.92 to $59.38 per hour The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
