What to Expect

Tesla is seeking an experienced Tester & Wire Harness Technician Supervisor to lead a team of technicians in the production assembly of high-reliability wire harnesses and discrete wire assemblies. This role requires strong leadership combined with hands-on technical expertise in interconnect systems, connectors, production soldering, schematic interpretation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance to ensure the team delivers assemblies that meet engineering, reliability, and production standards.

What You'll Do
  • Display a positive attitude and practice a strong work ethic that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of Tesla
  • Supervise, coach, train, and develop a team of Wire Harness Technicians, including performance management, scheduling, and ensuring adherence to production goals, quality, safety, and ESD standards
  • Oversee the assembly, inspection, and processing of wire harnesses and discrete wire assemblies according to drawings, schematics, BOMs, and work instructions in a production environment
  • Direct and ensure high-quality execution of wire cutting, stripping, crimping, tinning, soldering, and connector/terminal terminations, including pin-out verification
  • Interpret electrical schematics, connector pin-outs, wiring diagrams, and CAD models; guide the team in accurate setup, wiring, and issue diagnosis
  • Lead electrical troubleshooting of harnesses, wiring defects, connectors, and assemblies using diagnostic tools, visual inspection, continuity/hi-pot testing, and schematics; document production issues and collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to drive root-cause resolution and continuous improvement
  • Monitor daily production output, quality metrics, and resource needs; maintain soldering stations, crimpers, wire processors, and other production equipment, while supporting additional manufacturing or team tasks as business needs evolve

What You'll Bring
  • Several years of proven hands-on experience assembling discrete wire harnesses, interconnects, and connectors in a production setting, including soldering of wires, terminals, and related components; prior experience in automotive, aerospace, or high-volume electronics manufacturing environments is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience leading, supervising, or mentoring technicians or production teams in a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated ability to drive performance, accountability, and team development
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, connector pin-outs, wiring diagrams, and CAD drawings, with the ability to train others and utilize basic CAD viewing or manufacturing execution tools
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills for wiring, connector, and harness issues, plus the ability to support and develop the team in these areas
  • Knowledge of or certification in IPC J-STD standards (e.g., IPC-J-STD-001 for soldering) and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 for cable and wire harness assemblies; familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and quality systems is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, drive production rates and quality, follow and enforce documented procedures, and maintain safety, ESD, and quality standards while leading by example on the production floor
  • Solid leadership, communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Engineering, and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives
