Specializing in precision machining and metal fabrication, our Sanmina Newark, California facility has 16 years experience in both precision and large format solutions for industrial, semiconductor, clean technology and oil & gas markets. We provide comprehensive engineering and test capabilities: from in-house and hydrostatic leak-testing of medium and large format vacuum chambers to machining of precision stainless steel mechanisms. We have the capacity to machine components up to 3 meters. Our metal fabrication services include grinding, vacuum welding, heat treating, plating and anodizing. We can process many advanced materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, plastics, ferrous-non ferrous and other exotic alloys.

Job Purpose:

In this position you will perform product inspection of large format mechanical parts, primarily through operation of a Zeiss CMM. You will perform both in-process and final inspection in support of first article and production activities. In addition to the CMM, you will be asked to inspect parts through other traditional inspection techniques including height gages, calipers, micrometers and pin gages. You will be required to interpret the results of the CMM programs, including providing visualizations of surfaces and explanation to floor personnel. The ideal candidate is a self-starting and highly motivated team player, with the ability to communicate and interact with manufacturing, engineering and quality to provide support at all levels to satisfy our product, quality and on time delivery.

This position is for the SECOND shift.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Operate a large format coordinate measuring machine (Zeiss) in support of customer dimensional inspection needs.
  • Perform in-process inspections and final inspections, providing documented acceptance of good parts
  • Performs precise measurements using bench equipment such as height gages, surface plates, optical comparators, micrometers, radius gauges, dial indicators, etc.
  • Ensure that all products being shipped are inspected within quality standards and recorded into the system with all of the necessary information.
  • Reject nonconforming material and properly document the issues in NCRs
  • Communicate results of inspection to shop floor, engineering and quality personnel, providing visualizations and detailed analysis
  • Issue the final inspection report and/or sign off for each job completed in the shop.
  • Ensure proper documentation and records retention of all inspection results
  • Ensure that all quality measuring devices are calibrated regularly per our internal standard.
  • Monitor all quality control inspections throughout the production process to ensure that the company is in compliance with its internal quality standards, as well as those set forth in our ISO - 9001-2015 quality manual.
  • Communicate all quality issues to management in a timely manner, along with recommendations for any corrective actions that may be necessary.


Education and Experience:



  • AS/AA degree preferred or equivalent experience in technical field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a Zeiss CMM
  • Minimum 5 year of Mechanical Quality Assurance experience.
  • Experience in semiconductor industry desired.
  • Must have experience working within an ISO9001 or equivalent quality management system
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with ability to precisely document technical results
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be a team player and able to work with others in an effective and appropriate manner.
