Howmet is currently looking for a Wax Cell Operator(s) to join our Hampton Structural Castings (HSC) group in Hampton, Virginia. The available shift hours are 2nd shift, M-F 2pm-10pm. Training is 1st shift, M-F 6am-2pm.

New Hire Starting Rate: $21.07 p/hr.; After 6 months: $23.41 p/hr.

This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" of $1.00 p/hr. while assigned to an off shift.

Job Summary: The HSC Wax Cell Operator will completely pattern repair, gauge, and assemble patterns in preparation for Monoshell.

Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to use and calibrate Ultrasonic Hand Gauge for wall thickness of .070 and greater
  • Must be able to gauge wall thickness of .070 and greater using mechanical gauges
  • Read and comprehend work instructions and mold sheets
  • Pattern repair coming from injection
  • Assemble pattern
  • Gauge and disposition pattern and reform or rework patterns
  • Check gating kits
  • Ability to read and follow the information on work instructions
  • Record data either manually or by computer as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • An application must include a resume and two professional references for review and consideration.
  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Applicants must have at least two years of continuous experience or training. Recent high school or college graduates without prior work experience must provide a letter of recommendation.
  • Availability for all shifts (including 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekend shift) is necessary. The ability to work overtime and weekends is required as schedules may vary based on operational needs; flexibility is essential.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
