The Metro Estimating Leadis responsible fordeveloping,maintaining,advising andreportingconstruction cost estimates for datacenter projects across the Americas region. Estimates will range from early-stage conceptual and parametric assessments through detailed design estimatesto supportproject approvals, funding decisions, procurement, and project delivery.

This role serves as a key interface betweenengineering, construction, procurement, finance,cost and operations teams to ensure scope, schedule, risk, and delivery requirements are accurately reflected in project estimates.The Estimator will partner with the Cost&Procurementteamsto negotiate the GC awards and ensure that the scope, estimate, and buyout are aligned.

The Metro Estimating Lead will report directly to the Regional Estimating Manager and will have dotted-line interactions with the Global Estimating Teamto deliveraccurateestimates that incorporate lessons learned.

Responsibilities
  • Develop andmaintainconstruction cost estimates for data center projects to support project planning, investment decisions, and delivery across the Americas region.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, construction, procurement, scheduling, finance, and operations to ensure alignment of project scope, schedule, risks, and budget assumptions.

  • Present estimateto leadership and project teamswith emphasis on the basis, assumptions, cost driversand root causes(the why), risks,andopportunities.

  • Analyzeestimatetoidentifykeyestimate variances andpresentchange reason codes.

  • Createandmaintainestimating databases and templates.

  • Prepareparametric and conceptual estimates using historical data and regional modifiers.

  • Developbottoms-up detailed estimatesbased on 30-60-90-IFCdesign packages.

  • Partner with Cost forGCbuyout and awardnegotiationstoensure fair pricing aligned to scope, schedule, and delivery expectations.

  • Support, develop and improveestimating andcost management processes and procedures.

  • Drive standardization and consistency throughout the group.

  • Managecommercial issues on all current, future, and past projects and report on these issuestoregional leadership.

  • Collaborate across all areas of the datacenter program and build trusted relationships with construction partners to successfully negotiate and execute large-scale construction contracts.

Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.

Background Check Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years experience working on large scale projects (data center, mission critical, semiconductor, industrial construction)
  • Experience supporting projects across multiple geographic regions and construction markets.
  • Experience partnering with project controls disciplines, including contracts, project planning, change management, risk management, and cost reporting.
  • Experience leading estimating efforts across a portfolio of projects.

Construction Project Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
