The Opportunity: Implements tactical and operational marketing communications goals, ensuring brand consistency, audience engagement, and effective messaging strategies. Contributes to implementing new promotional campaigns, communication frameworks, content standards, or operational plans that will have a moderate impact on department results, such as refining messaging approaches, optimizing audience outreach methods, and enhancing stakeholder engagement strategies. Manages marketing communications projects and/or processes, such as overseeing media relations, supporting digital marketing initiatives, and coordinating cross-functional brand messaging efforts. Works on problems and issues with a diverse scope where analysis of information requires evaluation of multiple factors, such as audience behavior insights, campaign performance metrics, and brand perception trends. Derives solutions based on limited information and/or precedents, adapting messaging strategies to shifting market conditions, refining content methodologies to enhance brand visibility, and troubleshooting inconsistencies in external communication efforts. Communicates with parties within and outside of the marketing communications discipline and may have responsibilities for engaging with external stakeholders, including customers, vendors, and media partners. Ensures alignment in messaging strategies, brand positioning, and audience engagement initiatives across multiple touchpoints.

The Senior Copywriter, sits within the Molecule Creative Services in-house agency and plays a critical role in shaping Avantor and VWR's brand voice across the Science Education, biopharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare and laboratory services markets. Working independently with general direction, this individual leads copy development for complex, high-visibility and integrated projects, translating scientific and technical information into clear, persuasive messaging for diverse audiences.

In partnership with integrated marketing communications managers, as well as scientific and product subject-matter experts, the Senior Copywriter creates written materials for print and digital channels, including marketing campaigns, web and social media, sales collateral, trade show materials, product demonstrations, white papers and video scripts. The role helps ensure that content, design and user experience work together holistically, project objectives are met, and all deliverables are engaging, brand-consistent, accessible and aligned with applicable regulatory requirements.

How you will thrive and create an impact

  • Lead the development of compelling, audience-centric and consistently on-brand copy for integrated marketing campaigns and communications across print and digital channels.

  • Translate complex scientific, technical and product information into clear, persuasive, audience-focused messaging, across web, social media, email, sales collateral, trade show materials, product demonstrations, white papers, video scripts and other print and digital channels.

  • Edit and proofread content for accuracy, clarity, grammar, consistency, compliance and adherence to Avantor editorial, brand and legal guidelines; identify and resolve content issues before final delivery.

  • Partner with designers and creative directors to ensure copy, design, accessibility, information flow and customer experience work together as a cohesive, holistic solution.

  • Research relevant audiences, markets, competitors, products and scientific topics; apply SEO/SEM principles, content structure and channel best practices to improve the clarity, discoverability and usability of digital content, as appropriate to the assignment.

  • Share knowledge, writing expertise and best practices with copywriters and other members of the in-house agency team; provide informal mentorship and constructive feedback as appropriate.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in accordance with applicable policy.

  • Minimum of seven years of professional copywriting, content development or marketing communications experience, including complex or integrated assignments in an agency, corporate or in-house creative services environment.

  • Experience within healthcare, life sciences, biopharmaceutical, laboratory or another scientifically complex industry required.

  • Portfolio or representative body of work demonstrating strong writing, editing, conceptual and storytelling ability across multiple channels.

  • Advanced writing, editing and storytelling skills across varied audiences, formats and channels.

  • Ability to distill complex scientific, technical and business information into clear, accessible and accurate messaging.

  • Strong understanding of marketing communications, integrated campaign development and the relationship between content, design and customer experience.

  • Strategic thinking and sound editorial judgment, with the ability to connect content decisions to audience needs and business objectives.

  • Working knowledge of healthcare, life sciences, biopharmaceutical or laboratory markets and related compliance considerations.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, solve problems proactively, present recommendations and incorporate feedback constructively.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication and stakeholder-alignment skills; knowledge of AP Stylebook, SEO/SEM, accessibility and common content/project management tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat; Workfront familiarity preferred.

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is

$78,000.00 - $125,350.00

Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.
