Senior Buyer - Electro-Mechanical Products

Position Overview
A growing aerospace and advanced manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer - Electro-Mechanical Products to support the sourcing and procurement of precision electro-mechanical components and related commodities. This position is responsible for developing, planning, and executing procurement strategies that support production requirements, cost objectives, supplier performance, and quality standards. The Senior Buyer will work closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and other internal stakeholders to maintain material availability, improve supplier performance, reduce costs, and minimize supply-chain risk. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with MRP-driven purchasing, supplier management, electro-mechanical components, contract and price negotiations, and AS9100/ISO 9001 quality environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and manage purchase orders while maintaining accurate open PO lines, quantities, pricing, and supplier delivery dates.
- Monitor supplier performance using key metrics including on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and overall supplier performance.
- Lead supplier problem-solving efforts and corrective actions when quality, delivery, or execution issues occur.
- Develop and execute procurement strategies designed to achieve the best overall value, quality, delivery, and total landed cost.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, commercial terms, and supply agreements with new and existing suppliers.
- Analyze MRP requirements and purchasing data to ensure material availability aligns with production schedules and business objectives.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while balancing production requirements, working capital, and cost-control goals.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, Operations, Planning, and other cross-functional teams to address sourcing and material requirements.
- Expedite purchase requisitions and supplier deliveries when required to support production schedules.
- Identify and qualify alternate suppliers when necessary to mitigate shortages, supplier performance issues, or other supply-chain disruptions.
- Escalate supply-chain risks, purchase-order discrepancies, contractual concerns, and supplier issues to appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on supplier performance, cost reduction, procurement efficiency, and supply-chain effectiveness.
- Support purchasing and supplier documentation necessary to maintain compliance with applicable quality standards, including AS9100 and ISO 9001.
- Coordinate purchasing activities involving international suppliers, import logistics, and applicable commercial terms.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience sourcing electro-mechanical components, precision components, or similar technical commodities.
- Strong working knowledge of MRP systems and materials planning.
- Proven experience managing supplier performance and resolving delivery or quality issues.
- Demonstrated success with supplier negotiations, cost reductions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple suppliers, purchase orders, and competing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret technical information, specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, preferably AS9100 and/or ISO 9001.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or a comparable ERP platform.
- Experience with EDI purchasing platforms.
- Knowledge of international purchasing, import logistics, and Incoterms / International Commercial Terms.
- Experience working within aerospace, defense, medical device, industrial manufacturing, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with supplier corrective-action processes and supplier quality management.
The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
