Industrial Design at Georgia Tech explores the relationship between people, technology, and society. As part of one of the world's leading research universities, students learn through interdisciplinary collaboration, evidence-based inquiry, and hands-on making. The School of Industrial Design currently offers a BSID, MID, MS-HCI (with a specialization in Industrial Design), and an ID Minor.

The School of Industrial Design at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for a Full-Time Instructor position. We seek a candidate who specializes in contemporary industrial design practice with expertise in physical product development, digital design methods, advanced visualization, design for manufacturing, and emerging technologies. Applicants should have professional experience bringing products from concept through production and demonstrated expertise in industrial design, product development, computational/parametric design, digital fabrication, smart products, AI-assisted design workflows, and studio-based design education.

Successful candidates will be expected to:

Teach ID foundation courses, technical lecture/lab courses, and advanced studios.

Contribute to curriculum development initiatives, mentor undergraduate and graduate student projects, and support interdisciplinary collaborations across the Institute while incorporating contemporary industry practices and emerging technologies into the classroom.

Engage in service activities within the School and Institute, including organizing design-related events and programs, contributing to accreditation and assessment initiatives, and participating in activities that support the School's strategic goals.

A graduate degree in Industrial Design or a closely related field.

The ability to lead ID foundation projects integrating design practices with form development, aesthetics, CMF development, and visualization.

The ability to design and teach curricula for innovative product concepts using analog and digital design tools.

The ability to teach digital design methods, product visualization, and contemporary CAD workflows used in professional industrial design practice.

The ability to teach product development processes from concept generation through prototyping and manufacturing implementation.

Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, or substantially revising industrial design curriculum, courses, or educational materials.

The ability to integrate emerging technologies, including computational design, digital fabrication, and AI-assisted design tools, into design education.

Demonstrated expertise in contemporary industrial design workflows, including advanced CAD-based product development, digital modeling, and visualization tools commonly used in professional practice.

Demonstrated professional experience developing commercially manufactured products.

Professional recognition through patents, design awards, exhibitions, or other evidence of innovation and impact.

Significant professional practice experience in consumer products, lighting, product systems, medical devices, or related fields.

Experience teaching both foundational design studios and technically intensive lecture/lab courses.

Experience with digital fabrication technologies, electronics prototyping, physical computing, or smart product development.

Experience integrating generative AI tools into design practice, design education, or curriculum development.
