Job Summary Summer: Drives research projects scientically and determines the course of research as evidenced by leadership, obtaining funding, writing, or other recognition. May not necessarily receive independent resources; however, their contribution is essential to the conceptual/scientic success of the project. oDesign and perform genetic association analysis. oDesign, plan, and execute cell-based, biochemical, and in vivo experiments necessary to validate target genes for therapeutic discovery. oMaintain cell lines and isolate primary cells for use in cell-based assays. oWork with informatics and computational scientists to integrate and interpret screening and functional genomic data sets. oPerform detailed characterization and cellular mechanism of action studies of chemically optimized compounds. oPerform mouse genetic linkage analysis to define genes affecting genome instability oWork with team to design and execute research plans to ensure that critical project requirements, timelines, and deliverables are met. oTroubleshoot and solve scientific problems independently. oIdentify, investigate and implement new technologies based on scientific needs. oEffectively present results in cross-functional project teams. oDesign, execute, and interpret research experiments. oTrain investigators in techniques relating to small animal surgery, molecular biology, and vector construction. oInvestigates, creates and develops new methods and technologies for research advancements oAssist in laboratory management. oContribute to scientific literature and present research at scientific forums Qualifications Education Doctorate Related Field of Study required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Experience Previous Research experience (inclusive of graduate and postdoctoral experience) 5-7 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Excellent research skills. - Demonstrated evidence of specific scientific competence in field. - Demonstrated broad knowledge of field. - Evidence of potential for scientific creativity and original though. - Able to exercise independent judgment and leadership. - Ability to contribute to publications.
