Summary


The AI & Data Intern will support Dunmore's data infrastructure, machine learning, and artificial intelligence initiatives through hands-on projects focused on data modeling, product classification, and AI-enabled workflow analysis. This role provides exposure to enterprise data engineering, machine learning, MLOps, data quality, and agentic AI concepts within a manufacturing environment.



The intern will collaborate with technical and cross-functional teams to help organize and enrich data, develop and test machine-learning approaches, map potential AI-enabled workflows, and support broader adoption of data and AI capabilities across the organization.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Support data modeling and integration initiatives to improve the structure, quality, usability, and accessibility of enterprise data.
  • Develop and evaluate machine-learning approaches for product-family mapping, including relationships between products and associated Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Assist with data preparation, feature development, model testing, validation, and documentation for machine-learning projects.
  • Support development and enrichment of centralized data models by identifying data relationships, inconsistencies, gaps, and data-quality improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with departments to document business processes and develop agentic workflow maps identifying potential opportunities for AI-enabled process support.
  • Assist with controlled testing of AI and agentic workflows, including autonomy gates, validation criteria, human review points, and other safeguards appropriate to the use case.
  • Research AI, machine learning, MLOps, and data-engineering methods and summarize findings and potential applications for technical and business stakeholders.
  • Document methodologies, experiments, results, limitations, and recommendations to support repeatability and knowledge sharing.
  • Communicate project progress, technical findings, and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Perform AI and data-related work using approved tools, systems, data, and processes and in accordance with applicable Company policies and required oversight.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:



  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Knowledge of or experience with artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, or related technologies.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and model data to support technical projects and experimentation.
  • Exposure to research methods, technical or scientific literature, and experimentation preferred.



Education and Experience



  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Coursework, project experience, or research experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data engineering, data modeling, or a related technical area preferred.
