Phlebotomist I Location: 6501 Baltimore National Pike, Baltimore, MD 21228 Training Location: LabCorp, 6740 Alexander Bell Dr, Columbia, MD 21046 Work Arrangement: Onsite Assignment Duration: 5+ months (Contract-to-Possible-Permanent) Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday, with every other weekend Interview: In-person, 1 round Training: Approximately 2 weeks Position Summary We are seeking a Phlebotomist I to join a LabCorp Patient Service Center. The primary responsibility will be performing blood draws and processing specimens while providing professional and courteous service to patients. This role will also include Greeter responsibilities, such as assisting patients and supporting the overall workflow of the Patient Service Center. Key Responsibilities Perform venipunctures and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles. Collect, label, process, and store patient specimens according to established procedures. Centrifuge, split, freeze, and package specimens as required by testing protocols. Match laboratory requisitions with specimen tubes and verify orders for accuracy. Ensure specimens are properly labeled and stored at the appropriate temperature. Package specimens for transportation while maintaining specimen integrity. Accurately update patient information and maintain required documentation. Explain the blood draw/specimen collection process clearly and courteously to patients. Follow OSHA, DEP, and laboratory safety requirements. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Complete required department training. Answer telephone calls and assist with laboratory-related inquiries. Perform Greeter duties and assist with patient flow at the Patient Service Center. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 6 months of venipuncture/phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital setting. Phlebotomy certification as required by the state. Experience with blood draws and specimen processing. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform approximately 20-30 blood draws per day. Work Environment Patient Service Center environment. Approximately 20-30 draws per day. May work independently or as part of a team. Approximately 10-15 minutes standing per draw. Must be comfortable working every other weekend. | |
