Position Description

This is an hourly position reporting to Angela Boutch, the Administrative Manager of the St. Anthony Falls Laboratory.

Position: Temporary/Casual Administrative Support that provides vital administrative, logistical, and financial assistance across three primary operational areas, from 9/30/2026-3/1/2027. This position will work a maximum of 14 hours per week during this time period.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $22-25/hour *Hiring salary is dependent upon salary, equity, and experience

Job Responsibilities

  • Event Management & Support (50%)
    • Pre-Event: Collaborate with SAFL staff to identify event scope, establish comprehensive planning timelines, and design promotional assets.
    • On-Site Execution: Coordinate vendor deliveries and caterers, manage A/V setups, oversee venue setup/breakdown, maintain attendee logs, and collect visitor documentation required for honoraria and expense reimbursements.
    • Post-Event: Reconcile event financials, generate final reporting, and documentation to stakeholders.
  • Communications & Social Media (30%)
    • Content Creation: Write, design, coordinate, and produce engaging print, digital, and social media marketing materials for departmental events and our internal newsletter
    • Tours: Assist with tours of the facility, learning about the lab's history and major contributions to the scientific community.
    • Platform Management: Oversee and curate content for official social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook, YouTube).
  • Financial Assistance (20%)
    • Operations Support: Assist the Finance Professional 4 to generate University of Minnesota (UM) financial reports for post-award management, audit payroll data and maintain accurate departmental records.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years work experience in an office setting; at least 1 year at the University of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications

  • Social media management
  • University of Minnesota Financial system experience
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $22.00- $25.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
