Title: Systems Engineer Duration: 12 Months Location: Richmond, VA (Hybrid 2 days onsite - Tue/ Thurs) Job Description: Job Description: Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Database Security Engineer with a strong database administration background to manage, optimize, and expand our enterprise Imperva Database Activity Monitoring (DAM) platform. This contractor will ensure 100% monitoring coverage across critical database environments, automate routine operational tasks and refine security baselines. Key Responsibilities Imperva Platform Management & Support: Manage daily operations, troubleshooting, configuration, and maintenance of the Imperva DAM environment. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for vendor escalations and support tickets. Scope Assurance & Inventory Auditing: Partner closely with platform DBAs to continuously reconcile database inventories against DAM coverage, ensuring all target assets across MSSQL, DB2, Oracle, and Teradata are actively monitored without blind spots. Operational Health & Anomaly Detection: Monitor platform telemetry to detect health anomalies, agent outages, or logging drops. Ensure continuous, active activity recording across all targeted databases. Policy Optimization & Security Baseline Governance: Apply a strong cybersecurity mindset to review policy drift, evaluate security baselines, and recommend actionable rule adjustments to align with enterprise security standards and industry best practices. Automation & Efficiency: Script and automate daily health checks, monitoring verification, reporting, and operational task workflows to streamline routine platform maintenance. Required Qualifications & Technical Skills Imperva DAM Expertise: Direct, hands-on administration, engineering, and troubleshooting experience with Imperva DAM (SecureSphere). Strong Database Background: Deep foundational knowledge of database architectures, querying, logging mechanisms, and system catalogs across multiple enterprise platforms: Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) IBM DB2 Oracle Teradata Automation & Scripting: Demonstrated capability to automate operational tasks using scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, or REST APIs). Vendor & Incident Management: Proven experience working with vendors for technical support to resolve complex platform issues, upgrades, and bug fixes. Database Security Mindset: Familiarity with database auditing principles, baseline governance, policy drift resolution, and threat/anomaly detection. | |
