Our IT Department, located in our Monmouth Junction, NJ headquarters, has an immediate need for a Part-Time, temporary, Artificial Intelligence Intern.

Flexible Hours: 20 hours per week

Summary

We're looking for a highly motivated IT Intern with a passion for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to help us explore and integrate AI solutions within a small, privately owned pharmaceutical company. You'll contribute to laying the groundwork for how we leverage AI to enhance our data analysis, streamline operations, and support innovative applications in a pharmaceutical context. As we're building our AI capabilities from the ground up, this role offers significant learning and hands-on experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary duties/responsibilities

  • Explore and research AI applications by investigating how AI, machine learning, and data analytics can solve challenges and create opportunities in the pharmaceutical industry. This could involve exploring big data solutions or the Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
  • Support AI Proof-of-Concepts to help identify potential areas for AI implementation and contribute to small-scale pilot projects.
  • Assist in understanding and preparing company data for potential AI applications.
  • Explore and prototype ways to automate internal processes, and potentially leverage large language models (LLMs) to enhance efficiency.
  • Create clear documentation, summaries, and dashboards to share insights and progress on AI initiatives with the team.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally by working with various departments (IT, Finance, R&D, & etc.) to understand their needs and identify opportunities for AI integration.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in AI and machine learning to bring fresh ideas to the team.

Education & Experience:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, data science, or a related technical field.
  • Strong foundational understanding of programming concepts, particularly with Python.
  • Familiarity with basic machine learning concepts is a plus.
  • Experience or coursework that demonstrates an interest in automating tasks, building small applications, or exploring ML models.

Soft Skills:

  • A genuine passion and interest in Artificial Intelligence and its real-world applications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate ideas and findings.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and eager to learn new technologies in a dynamic environment
