Commercial Corporate Counsel plays a key role in enabling Genesys to grow while helping the business navigate the legal, commercial, privacy, security, and AI considerations that shape complex technology transactions. You will own and influence commercial legal matters supporting the North America sales organization, providing practical guidance that helps teams move opportunities forward while appropriately managing risk.

You will partner directly with Sales and collaborate across Data Privacy, Security, Product Counsel, Finance, and other business functions to negotiate cloud and SaaS transactions, address evolving business models, and improve how Genesys contracts at scale. The role offers meaningful visibility across the organization and the opportunity to shape contracting standards, playbooks, templates, and commercial decision making.

As Genesys advances an AI-powered customer experience platform used by organizations around the world, commercial counsel helps create the trusted contractual and governance foundation that supports enterprise adoption of cloud and AI capabilities. Genesys currently serves more than 8,000 organizations across more than 100 countries, creating opportunities to work on sophisticated technology transactions and evolving legal issues at meaningful scale.

This position offers exposure to enterprise initiatives involving cloud services, data privacy, security, and artificial intelligence, providing opportunities to deepen technology law expertise while partnering with senior business and legal stakeholders. Success requires sound judgment, empathy in negotiation, collaborative decision making, and the confidence to take ownership of complex matters while supporting shared business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the drafting, review, and negotiation of commercial agreements, including cloud services and SaaS agreements, amendments, nondisclosure agreements, RFP responses, statements of work, direct and indirect licensing agreements, BAAs, DPAs, and other cloud-based transactions
  • Drive commercial transactions toward timely resolution by balancing business objectives, customer requirements, legal considerations, and appropriate risk management
  • Advise Sales and business stakeholders on data privacy, data security, artificial intelligence, and other legal considerations affecting technology transactions
  • Develop and maintain scalable contract templates that support recurring transactions, evolving business models, and changing legal and commercial requirements
  • Partner with Sales, Data Privacy, Security, Product Counsel, Finance, and other cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment on contracting strategy, company processes, and risk
  • Improve contracting efficiency and consistency by contributing to standards, templates, negotiation playbooks, and commercial legal best practices
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting cloud software, SaaS, data privacy, security, and artificial intelligence, translating relevant developments into practical guidance for internal stakeholders
  • Influence commercial decision making by providing clear, business-oriented legal advice and independently resolving complex matters within appropriate levels of authority

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the bar of a U.S. state or territory, with authorization to reside and work in the United States
  • 2+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably including experience in an in-house legal environment
  • Strong experience in commercial contract drafting, review, and negotiation
  • Demonstrated ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice with sound judgment and confidence
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills and demonstrated comfort working directly with customers and business partners
  • Demonstrated capability to manage complex workloads, prioritize competing matters, and operate independently with appropriate judgment
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across legal, sales, privacy, security, product, and finance functions
  • Working knowledge of legal and regulatory issues affecting technology transactions, including data privacy, data security, and artificial intelligence

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong background in commercial and contract law, including experience negotiating cloud, SaaS, licensing, and strategic technology transactions
  • Experience in customer-facing negotiations requiring diplomacy, empathy, sound judgment, and effective communication
  • Knowledge of legal issues affecting the technology and cloud computing industries
  • Experience with contact center technology or customer experience platforms
  • Knowledge of complex legal and regulatory compliance matters relevant to technology companies
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex legal and commercial issues, make well-reasoned decisions with limited supervision, and clearly articulate the rationale supporting those decisions

Compensation:

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonus opportunities.

$95,000.00 - $167,000.00
