General Responsibilities:

As a Building Environmental Scientist with Terracon, you will perform duties related to asbestos / lead / mold inspections, abatement / remediation air monitoring, and project management. You will also evaluate respective data, prepare reports, and take part in other environmental consulting projects. This position will lead to licensure with the Texas Department of State Health Services as an Asbestos Inspector, Air Monitoring Technician, Project Manager. This position will lead to licensure as a Mold Assessment Technician and certification as a Lead Inspector.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Sample suspect asbestos-containing building materials in accordance with Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) guidelines.
  • Sample suspect mold in building materials in accordance with Mold Assessors and Remediators Rules (MARAR).
  • Sample suspect lead in paint in accordance with Texas Environmental Lead Reduction Rules (TELLR).
  • Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments, May work in the office, lab or in the field.
  • Perform oversight and air monitoring.
  • Evaluates laboratory and field data, able to coherently summarize data into draft report format using Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
  • May assist more senior scientists on large, more complex projects.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • TDSHS license and certifications in the field is a plus.
  • TDSHS Lead Inspector certification is a plus.
  • TDLR licensure as a Mold Assessment Technician is a plus.
  • This position requires the employee to work flexible hours and occasional weekends.
  • Occasional Overnight travel and out-of-town mobilization of up to 2 weeks may also be required.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
